Excellent! Genuine consultation is essential; it makes much better decisions & is the only hope for people respecting decisions & the system behind them. People can't have all they want but, in a democracy, they should be heard, respected & told why. That the law needs to speed up is a general issue

It's always the same: people need to be led, not forced, whether it's public transport over cars, plant based over meat, anything at all over Oasis v Blur... Encourage, incentivise, lead by example, otherwise people dig their heels in. I know this and I'm just some idiot on the internet.

I can guarantee you that in the far reaches of Scotland where we were pioneers on renewables, the attitude of imposing giant industrial plants is not flying. People are furious and once again disappointed that London blocks all local projects for the benefits of foreign speculation funds.

It’ll be about ‘derisking’ projects for asset managers. More greenfield, subsidised, zero risk projects for finance where profits will be offshored & taxpayers will pick up costs when it fails, without gaining equity. Thatcher sold off our companies, Blair let in finance, this era sells the future.

I remember a lot of people on the left used this to skewer Adrian Ramsay on pylons ( who wasn't their preferred candidate for leader of the Green party-) even tho it was hard for him to ignore the objections- as shown here were reasonable
