This has always instinctively been my view on this. Not sure I buy the idea that AI is different to previous automation technologies. But it’s interesting to see the Luddite thing happening in real time.

As a scientist you can really see this as automation has been expanding over the last two decades. Certain physical tasks which used to take hours now take minutes but all that happens is you spend your time doing more of the other things. The same will happen with AI for my job at least.

As an experienced software developer almost 6 months into a job search, where this time last year and previously it took no more than a month to get a good job, I can say that AI absolutely is having an impact. It almost certainly will spread as people really start focusing on areas outside of IT.
