Jessica Ritchey @jmritchey.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Dune (1984). This is always gonna be one of my favorite Lynch projects, just a big beautiful mess with Lynch making the world's most expensive ASMR video. But it captures the magic and universe expanding feeling of browsing a relative's sci-fi paperbacks when you're too young. 3642635
smoke1966.bsky.social @smoke1966.bsky.social · 04/09/2026at least it didn't take 10yrs to see it all.. 010
Seth Lukas Hynes @sethhyneswriter.bsky.social · 04/09/2026In my review of Lynch’s Dune, published in the local paper about a month before Villeneuve’s Dune Part 1, I called Lynch’s Dune a beautiful bad movie. :) And while Villeneuve’s Dune is so much better, I did miss the brighter colours and epic rock-tinged score of Lynch’s Dune. 000
Dr Poop @drpoop1988.bsky.social · 04/09/2026It nails the emotional beats where the new Dune does not 110
billjacoby1.bsky.social @billjacoby1.bsky.social · 04/09/2026And Sting's ridiculous reading of the line "I will.......kill him" 000
Democrat Haderach @anonabel.bsky.social · 04/09/2026One of my top five favorite movies. 10/10 no notes 020
Jadey Character @lampjaded.bsky.social · 04/09/2026It took me no time at all to imagine half the movie split up into little ASMR clips. 😅 Paul Atreides: <whispers> "The second moon" <starts sifting sand> <arrhythmic footsteps> <thumper sounds> 000
Arch Stanton @archstantongold.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Awful. I guess this is what galena when you try to squeeze a huge novel like that into a generic 2 hour single film. 110
Rob Mordor @villainygroup.bsky.social · 04/09/2026This was (for some reason I don't understand myself) my cozy film. I would have it on in the background a lot. Comfortably at least once a week. Not so much now it doesn't seem to be streaming on anything. 010
H. Alan (not a doctor) Kantrud @advrdr.bsky.social · 04/09/2026An ambitious undertaking. Having read the trilogy prior; my anticipation for this as a teenager was off-the-charts. It hit well, but not completely satisfyingly. It changed me as it relates to what movies can do & can’t. Lynch did well, in retrospect, given the assignment. The casting: superb. 000
Karl @karlhk.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I picked Dune off my dad’s bookshelf and loved it. I was 12. I read it again when I was 22 and loved it even more. 000
JamesMoustache @james156.bsky.social · 04/09/2026This is a horrible movie. Absolutely trash. It barely resembles the book. 000
Detroit Storm @detroitstorm.bsky.social · 04/09/2026The villain is a power-hungry fat orange pedophile? Too far-fetched... /s 110
sundiego2015.bsky.social @sundiego2015.bsky.social · 04/09/2026The most recent Dune captures the spirituality of the world the best. Lynch's Dune captures the weirdness of Herbert's Dune the best. 170
scrambledbrainz.bsky.social @scrambledbrainz.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Gloriously cheesy but in a good way. So much of the book is in this version. I adore every messy inch of this movie. So many A-listers playing it straight while Lynch seems to have decided to edit this masterpiece with a campy vibe and only Sting knew. 000
vanala.bsky.social @vanala.bsky.social · 04/09/2026That is a great movie and the best one that dumOld t.Rump was ever in, I see him on the right. 000
Rehan Mirza @rnmirza.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Love this film. I have it on so many formats! What is amazing is that similar to the new film Lynch tried to split the book into two films - the early drafts ends just before the Jamis fight. HIGHLEY recommend this book 000
graywyvern @graywyvern.bsky.social · 04/09/2026"captures the magic and universe expanding feeling of browsing a relative's sci-fi paperbacks when you're too young" is the smartest thing i've ever seen written about that movie 020
Auntie Po'kchop @auntiepokchop.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I really dug the mini-series, both Dune & Children of Dune. The ending rain scene in Lynch's version always grinded my gears a bit. 000
Electronic Panopticon @electronicpanopticon.com · 04/09/2026My uncle gifted me a giant pile of SF paperbacks. Lots of Asimov and a mind expanding ragtag copy of Dune. Eraserhead was a gateway drug for us outcast high school Residents fans. When we heard that he was making Dune it was an instant must see. Lynch never disappointed. Minds were always blown 000
UncleEraserheadBabyBilly @lepcyrus.bsky.social · 04/09/2026even though it explains in-universe stuff waaaay too much it correctly leaves unexplained all the cool Lynch shit like cat milk and the warrior pug & sting's underwear 020
TheBijouBaby @thebijoubaby.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I think we could call it "A Variation on a theme by Frank Herbert." 000
Prickly Pete 🌵 @fellowhuman666.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Lynch was the only person that could have pulled off a Warhammer 40k movie. 010

crimsondynamo4.bsky.social @crimsondynamo4.bsky.social · 04/09/2026The movie is so gleefully unapologetically bonkers, and I adore it. 020
Tim Stickle @tstickz.bsky.social · 04/09/2026The great thing about Lynch failing with his version of (loorna) Dune, is that it essentially banned him from the big budget Hollywood movie machine. It brought him back to himself in a profound manner. Thus he would go on to do Blue Velvet next. This happens with a lot of great directors. 110
2.2 more years? @truth-n-science.bsky.social · 04/09/2026ah the Lynch and MacLachlan connection again (also in Twin Peaks). 020
Miles Archer @milesarcher.bsky.social · 04/09/2026What a wonderful way to describe it! Well done! 000
Alan McMillian @alanmcmillian.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I recently started getting into Toto and your comment about ASMR made me think about how their music contributed to the ethereal weirdness of this movie's vibe. 030
