something very important for Dems to realize is that the tech overlords are not people you can win back by promising a lighter touch and saying a few nice things they’ve gotten a taste of mask-off fascism and they are not going back, they don’t want to play nice with the peons anymore

Also, a nonzero number of them are explicitly anti-democracy and want to be philosopher-kings (and even the ones that aren't *explicitly* anti-democracy still want to be philosopher-kings). Trying to bring them onboard seems like more trouble than it's worth, in more ways than one!

If I think about it, I guess I can see the seeds of their "Lex Luther" personas in the show "Silicon Valley". Too many of the naive types-- such as I--associated the idea of progress w/progressive ideas and that was a mistake.

There's increasingly outright Nazi content on Zuckerberg's social media platforms also. Threads is becoming X. Yesterday I reported and blocked two dozen outright Neo-Nazi accounts on IG and I expect that nothing will be done about them by Meta.
