First, for all the crap Kathleen Kennedy took, we did get Andor and The Mandalorian under her watch. She deserves credit for those as much as criticism for other stuff. Now, I feel great that Lucasfilm has put Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan in charge: www.ign.com/articles/kat...

Kathleen Kennedy Leaves Lucasfilm After 14 Years, Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan Named New Star Wars Overlords - IGN

After months of rumors, Kathleen Kennedy is officially stepping down as the President of Lucasfilm after 14 years and will be replaced by Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan, Walt Disney Studios announced ...

Where is your confidence coming from? Filoni was single-handedly responsible for the disaster in writing and acting that was Ahsoka. And while Mandalorian is, overall, watchable, the first few episodes of each season tend to be a slog (generic “monster of the week“ stuff) before the pace picks up.

Is Andor any good? I tried it and got maybe half an episode in. The same guys that told me to try Andor told me to try Severance. I cannot stay awake for Severance.

The online chumps who blame her for 100% of every little thing they don't like may be interested to know how many if their favourite classic movies she was involved in producing.

I suspect that much of the hate that Kathleen Kennedy got was that the chud-o-sphere couldn’t stand the thought of a female studio executive. They CLAIM it’s “bad writing” or “bad characters”, but the same criteria aren’t applied to, say, Michael Bay films. No one has ever called for him to stop.

She gets credit IF there is proof she had anything meaningful to do with them. Until then, no.

Episodes 7 & 8 were very good to excellent. Episode 9 was so bad that it retroactively ruined 7 & 8.

She’ll stay on an be producer for the two new films in the slate. Which is great, because she’s a fantastic producer. Almost all of my favorite films have been produced by her and her husband.

She got a LOT of hate. I think she did ok. I mean she was a producer, not writer/director, and has had her hands in a lot of other great things.

We also got bad batch, tales, skeleton crew, visions, season 7 of the clone wars and rogue one. A lot of people like those and a fair amount think solo is great too. I think there’s a lot more good content during her tenure than ppl want to admit.

People always think she did just the Disney StarWars. She was at Lucas film since the eighties. Without her, a lot of now beloved movies wouldn't exist. (Not saying anything about the quality of those movies, but the low quality of online discourse.)

I still think The Acolyte, along with Rogue One and Andor, is one of the best things she helped put out.

I think it’s okay to make a change after 14 years. KK was involved in a lot of great stuff in her long career. In the last 14 years some stuff was great, others not. That’s normal. All in all, she did a great job. Big shoes, let’s see how they will be filled.

Funny how when i see people say the marvel movies have fallen off it’s “the MCU has been bad” Not “Kevin’s a moron!” When Star Wars flops it’s straight to “Damn that Kathleen Kennedy straight to hell!” Strange isn’t it?

Andor and rogue one were the only two good things that came out of 14 years of work, and I doubt she had much to do with them. The rest was trash. Mando 1 was OK but got progressively worse each season

000

makreljohnson.bsky.social @makreljohnson.bsky.social · 16/01/2026

It took me a few episodes to not be off-put by Andor's weasely behavior in early season one, but Season 2 was some of the best TV I've seen in a long time and I'm appreciative. Plus, Luna was incredibly humble and amped at Star Wars celebration and that made me like him and the show more.

Mateus Alves (Desabafando) @mateusbcv.bsky.social · 16/01/2026

Here's the thing: if in a 14 year stay in Star Wars she have 1 massive hit (Andor), 1 almost massive (The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2, as 3 is crap) and a lot, I mean A LOT, of medeocrity, i dont think her stay there was a success. As much as i like the sequels, they could have been a lot better

Matt_Oslo @mattoslo.bsky.social · 16/01/2026

She really dropped the ball with Crystal Skull and episodes 8&9. Solo was a bit of a fumble.

Leech @leech007.bsky.social · 16/01/2026

I’m not sure Andor was enough to save her legacy after flop, after flop, after flop. Solo, Rogue One, sequel trilogy, show after show. Flop flop flop.

It is a difficult franchise to manage. An audience which wants everything from cartoonish action and space whales to gritty political drama. Literally impossible to satisfy them all. I am not confident about Filoni.

Yeah, but still doesn't make up for the shitty sequel trilogy. Now rumor is they're decanonizing the sequel trilogy which explains why the next trilogy with Rey was canceled. Mandelorian was rumored to be decanonized too.

000

Jumper Pak 64 @jumperpak64.bsky.social · 16/01/2026

No she really doesn’t deserve credit for anything. First, the new trilogy was a poorly written mess. You want to have strongly written female characters? Awesome but that’s not what we got. Instead it was basic token representation written and acted out by people who lacked any skill.

I don't care who is in charge as long as they start telling whole stories and finishing what they start. Mandalorian got so screwed up I don't really care about the movie, and we get no more Acolyte? Thanks.
