Thread - this framing is one I think more folks should default to as they talk about what the big tech companies. They talk a lot about values and mission and The Future, but what they actually do is almost always what you’d predict from looking at the incentives inherent in their business models.

This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). Reorganizing my books has so far taken 4 hours, resulted in 2 liquid spills (no books were harmed), broken one bookshelf (I fixed it), and overheated both myself and my partner a great deal. But all the fiction is in alphabetical order by author now!

Since Lyft is all individual drivers with no real policy enforcement, it varies. I'd say, based on my friends' experience with guide dogs, that you might as well inform the driver ASAP so they can drop the ride if they won't deal with it.

In terms of archaeology, I know @saveancientstudies.bsky.social was always looking to partner with anyone doing that or similar- I know we found at least one. The big problem was that many sites' oversight bodies/countries were very cautious about that kind of thing.
