U.S. civil rights movement wielded a radical Jesus, a righteous God, that countered the European taught "you must obey us, God/Jesus are white, made you non-white as a curse, and to receive any grace you must submit to us" version of the religion. As did non-whites who were Christian before Europe.

Not just Christians. It is about being invaded by an enemy and not being ready to reject passive/tolerant/unaggressive cultural ideas in order to defend others. A lack of collective resistance to an agreed enemy. Some communities revoked the God of their enemies and claimed another God/Jesus/Allah.

Common in colonized communities. Souls are broken, bonds are undermined so the invader can infest. Resistance is weaker in communities that underestimate the vicious intent of "visitors."

I wish people would stop sanitizing words. Unhoused is homeless/ destitute. Deportation is human trafficking. Sex with children is rape. Food insecurity is hunger or starvation. We need to say what we mean and not try to sugarcoat terms. It’s my pet peeve. I’ll get off my soapbox now.
