Green vote up from 11% to 33%; changing Holborn & St Pancras from a safe Labour seat to a marginal. Second best Green by-election result ever, making the seat winnable next time. 33% would win quite a few seats in the country with the vote division between several parties as things stand.
BBC graphic of the Holborn and St Pancras by-election result, October 2026. Labour 45% in first, down 4 points. Green Party (Zack Polanski) 33% in second, up 22 points.

Twenty years ago, the journalist was murdered at the instigation of Russian security services. Documentary filmmaker Eric Bergkraut, who knew her well, recalls in an opinion piece for Le Monde her fight for truth and against Kremlin propaganda – a struggle that is more necessary than ever as Vladimir Putin continues to kill.
