The Tamiya Marder III is a great kit. Everything fits, tricky pieces are keyed so it's hard to put them in the wrong place... my biggest mistake so far is buying the wrong Jordi Rubio barrel (75mm PAK 40 instead of 76.2mm PAK 35r) at a show a few years ago... hybrid solution found #histscalemodels

That's the Hasegawa 1/72 OV-1D Mohawk done. Not a bad kit but there's a conflict or two between the default instructions and "Special Marking" separate paint scheme which I missed and needed a workaround. Also needs a load of weight: nose, wheel bay and SLAR all filled! #histscalemodels

Presumably, it was being towed to Clydebank for scrapping, but ran aground in 1919 near Lendalfoot village. It was scrapped in place over the next few years... the remnants still remain visible at low tide. And so ended the voyage of the heroic VARYAG.

Well everyone needs a hobby I suppose 😆 You'd love the place I went to yesterday... Logan Botanical Gardens on the Mull of Galloway. They get a Gulf Stream microclimate and grow all sorts of Aus/NZ palms, tree ferns and brackens... very primordial!

Holiday project... rather than do crosswords I figured I could build up some sub-assemblies on the Tamiya Marder III. Unfortunately, looking at the metal barrel I picked up at a show last year, it's for a Marder II (75mm pak40) not the Marder III (76.2mm pak40). Rookie error. #histscalemodels
