It's definitely dishearteningly widespread - if not students directly using it to write their work, using it to find/summarise texts, leading to a whole lot of false references or incorrect attributions 🤦‍♀️

It's hard to pinpoint, but after being exposed to so much AI content in social media (and unfortunately, student work), there are wordings that start to stand out - like repeated use of the 'not x, but y' phrasing. I also ran this through an AI checker and it came out as around 50-60% AI-written

It's hard to pinpoint, just patterns of text that have become quite familiar to me from seeing so much AI-generated content online (and in student essays)! A lot of the 'not X, but Y' structure.

Though worth noting that as they used captive birds, the positive affect was only relative to the non-free flight days which are potentially negative welfare experiences for the animals. This could be an effect of enjoying having something to do at all, rather than flying specifically.

The most dangerous thing about AI is not that the machines might one day think. It is that we are being trained, by men with enormous financial gains riding on our acquiescence, to stop thinking for ourselves.
