I will say that *I* thought Bran had an extremely important role to play, he had a whole fucking subplot!!!, and was not surprised at all by the ending. To me it was disappointing because it was so predictable, not that I thought it was a dumb ending. All endings are dumb.

New York needs a dedicated Mental Health Response Team trained specifically and primarily in deescalation and responding to mental health crises. Each team can have one cop, armed with a taser and a gun, trained to avoid fatalities as much as possible. The NYPD's budget can easily afford this.
