Blue Archive needs to put a warning on the app page that says "DISCLAIMER: If you are prone to growing attached to fictional characters, this game may cause you to end up with several new anime daughters." Like holy crap every single one of these girls deserve protection and love.

I really enjoyed this chat. We discussed how the right uses the tools & audience relationships of social differently than the left, constantly evolving messages - and how this is very different than institutions taking a top-down approach. We talked about “free speech as meme,” rather than value.

Ursula le Guin, on the accusation that fantasy is an escape from reality

[“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don’t we consider it his duty to escape? The moneylenders, the know-nothings, the authoritarians have us all in prison; if we value the freedom of the mind and soul, if we’re partisans of liberty, then it’s our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can.”]

My love for fictional characters motivates me to write. I've always grown deeply attached to characters as people, and how well a story can convey respect for the people within it, while still being engaging by its other merits, is one of my highest evaluations of whether I like a story.

A message of hope amidst oppression. It's very much about how to cope with the stress of times like these and find a way forward. The protagonist is a naive, reckless teenage dumbass, but she keeps her eyes focused on a path to change things. That gives her strength that she can pass onto others.

Theory bite! This is probably something that cis people would find useful, as much or more than trans people, because a lot of cis people participate in it in conversations about transness and trans folks ;3

"Epistemicide" is a term you should become very familiar with in all discussions regarding trans oppression.

It sounds fancier than it is. The term is related to the concept of epistemic injustice. In essence, trans people have historically been subject to a form of epistemicide: our stories, histories, testimonials, ways of life, all erased and buried to maintain the patriarchal myth of dichotomous, naturalized, immutable sex.

We are then further marginalized through epistemic injustice, prevented from participating in the processes of knowledge-production, our testimonies devalued, our voices suppressed and our identities defined for us, not by us. The perception of us shaped by others, instead of ourselves. The conversation about us dominated by the voices of those who'd rather stamp us out, shouting over us constantly.

If you're not accounting for this as a central mechanism animating transphobia, you're missing a lot of the picture.

I would like to get back to being jovial & I’m trying. But I sincerely believe the philosophy that while liberation can be possible through self-sacrifice, there’s no form of liberation that can come through sacrificing others. As soon as we make that compromise it leads to where we are today.
