Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

Ms. Wellenbach,
I am urging you to take steps to save this *public* institution, one that has served the city for nearly two hundred years. I'm sure you've received emails from people with memories of visiting the museum as a child—l have the same memories.
As a Girl Scout, getting to sleep in the great dinosaur exhibition room was always a highlight of my year, and the idea that this will disappear for other children is saddening. But we didn't just go as a part of scouts! My father would take me and me sister on the weekends as my mom worked, and it lit up my mind every time, teaching me about the natural world-everything from dinosaurs to butterflies to mummies (what kid wasn't fascinated and terrified of the mummy?)
But even as an adult, I've visited the museum, sometimes to see the dioramas and fossils, and sometimes to use the research library. As an independent researcher in Iron Age history, having access to journals: do you know how hard it would be for me to find a copy of the Transactions and journal of proceedings of Dumfriesshire and Galloway Natural History and Antiquarian Society? It's not exactly sitting around at the Free Library! But the Academy has it, and let me copy several articles on a Romano-British settlement that I needed.

This museum needs to be saved. Please don't let Drexel close it and warehouse these collections.
The world has turned against science in so many ways, from vaccine skepticism to "flat earthism".
This museum is and needs to be a bulwark against an intellectual dark age.

Thinking the house I grew up in. On the second floor, there was a door out to the roof, and a screen door behind it that was nailed shut. I would trace drops on the screen when it would rain. It didn’t really occur to me how odd this door was. There was no deck, rain would just pour on the carpet.
