Agree. Plus, it's wrong, the belief that the NYT sits on a mountain with a scales-of-justice, and if there are X critical GOP stories, they must add X critical Dem stories to create balance. The initial premise is false. It's not Dem vs. GOP. It's worthy vs. unworthy, important vs. unimportant.

I want to highlight a non-Alaska thing in my piece: The NYT’s decision to hype this right-wing attack on Ilhan Omar just days before Election Day despite *not having any idea at all what evidence, if any, exists to support the attack.* Gutter sleaze. www.findinggravity.net/the-new-york...
The New York Times’ desperation to find a Democratic scandal isn’t confined to Alaska: This morning’s “editor’s picks” email from the Times hyped an article the paper published yesterday dredging up Republican claims that Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother, which Rep. Omar has long denied:

In paragraph seven, the Times article acknowledges “It is unclear what evidence prosecutors, then or now, have showing that the person Ms. Omar married was her brother.”
So, without having any idea at all what evidence anyone has, the New York Times has decided to play into the Trump regime’s vicious, racist attacks on Somali-Americans.
These are, at best, deeply unserious people.2

I wrote about the New York Times’ multimedia full-court press on the dumb Alaska story — a dozen print, video, audio, and newsletter reports at last count — and the news media’s responsibility to cover things in proportion to their importance. www.findinggravity.net/the-new-york...
At this writing, the New York Times has now run more than a dozen reports on this matter in just three days. The Times is in the kind of full-court press mode it saves for things like Joe Biden stumbling over his words. By my tally, the alleged Peltola maneuver has been a primary subject of six New York Times articles, four New York Times newsletters, a New York Times podcast, a New York Times video, and two letters to the editor the New York Times chose to run. At least nine New York Times journalists have bylines on these pieces. I can only imagine what the Sunday crossword puzzle has in store for us.1
Meanwhile, the New York Times still has not told readers of a new rape allegation against Donald Trump that was made public on Monday in a report the New York Times dishonestly dismissed on grounds that “it largely cites allegations that have already been public.” The word “largely” is doing a awful lot of work in that sentence, given that the report includes a new rape allegation.

My aggregation of good advice for the next few days: www.headsupnews.org/p/no-kings-gets…
First things first: Vote! Vote early if you can, but vote on Election Day if you can't.
 • Encourage your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, classmates, and fellow
hobbyists and worshippers to vote. Call them. Check in with them on Election Day,
and if they haven't voted, help them make a plan. Offer them rides to the polls.
Knock on doors in your precinct.
 • It's not too late to sign up for a get-out-the-vote shift. Look on Mobilize. Contact
your favorite political organization, campaign, or union.
 • If you have any questions about how to vote, or you see anything that concerns
you, call or text 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) to speak with a trained Election
Protection volunteer. Report to your local election officials.
 • Remember that it is illegal for the military to be deployed at polling places other
than to repel armed enemies of the United States. Federal and state laws prohibit
deploying federal law enforcement to polling places, with similarly unlikely
 exceptions.
 • Federal law prohibits voter intimidation. In addition to overt threats or coercion,
that includes aggressively questioning voters about their citizenship, criminal
record, or other qualifications to vote, and spreading false information about voter
requirements. (You do not need to speak English to vote, in any state.)
 • Did you see someone turned away without voting? Help them assert their rights.
 • Make it festive. Set up near a polling place with music, snacks, and signs of
 welcome.
 • Show up before voting ends and tell people in line to stay in line. Anyone in line
when polls close still has the right to vote.
 • Thank your local election workers. They are wonderful people.

If the NYT is so interested in the Alaska Senate race they should ask Dan Sullivan, who in 2016 said he could not support Trump due to "reprehensible revelations" about him, what he thinks about the latest rape allegation against Trump. Oh right I forgot: The NYT hasn't reported the new allegation.
Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska:

"Inspired by my three wonderful teenage daughters, and my wise and gracious wife, I have tried to do everything in my authority as an Alaskan public official over the past seven years to combat sexual assault and domestic violence. I've worked to encourage men to choose respect and change the culture of abuse against women and children, which is at epidemic levels in Alaska and many parts of the country. We need national leaders who can lead by example on this critical issue. The reprehensible revelations about Donald Trump have shown that he can't. Therefore, I am withdrawing my support for his candidacy.
