Two macaques had to pull both rope ends at once to get snacks 🐒 With one apparatus available, one male pair monopolised it - 86% of all pulls. With five apparatuses, just 4% and more pulls with others. @zewaldj.bsky.social in doi.org/10.1016/j.anbehav.2026.123632

NEW PAPER! 🐒 Cooperation experiments in animals are often done with one cooperation apparatus, creating a specific highly monopolisable setting. We found that presenting multiple apparatuses significantly changed macaques' partner preference compared to one apparatus. doi.org/10.1016/j.an...

There and back again... A year ago, I started a new field study with long-tailed macaques in tropical Bali, Indonesia. Then, I visited the snowy prairies in Alberta, Canada. I've met many great people and playful monkeys along the way. I'm very thankful for all the support during this adventure 🗺🐒
