Some of my favorite photos from the 2026 Berkley Criterium. Camera mostly behaved. My shots got better as the day went on, when I realized what I was enjoying and what was working. I should have brought by 70-300 instead of my default 18-200. Had a good time. Will have to do another soon.

Grandpa sent some steaks as a Christmas gift! First time making steaks in forever. Really worth the effort to add all the sides. I made a sauce from the steak drippings, just winging it, and it was great. Hard to go wrong with sour cream, butter, plus some steak bits.

Made lemon jam last night. It's sweet to the point of being candy. The jelly tastes like lemon flavored Jollyrancher. The chunks of lemon actually taste like lemon. I was actually hoping for something sweet and sour. This is just too sweet. And I even used less sugar!

I finally sat down and figured out how to make a plot I've been dying to have in intrevals.icu forever, so here it is! Heart rate and power for each work interval during a workout. And it's already confirmed the one thing I was wondering about - Yes, my RPE skyrockets once I hit 180 BPM!

Weirdest part of my ride today was going through what was an encampment like only two weeks ago. It felt like a ghost town. Sad that these people got displaced. I was never able to see end to end before, and I'm surprised they got it all.

Back to tradition! It is the year 2025 and here I am celebrating getting simulations working modeling how 50+ year old engine hardware functions.

Today's joyful discovery is confirming that the pizza dough I am trying to replicate definitely does not benefit from a bulk ferment. Made it last night, let it rise in the fridge. The final outcome is big, fluffy, and soft. It's good! But definitely further from the original.

3 hour ride today. Went okay. Computer did a good job reminding me to keep the pace down, but I should have set the upper limit lower. I think I saw a total of 6 cats, and 1 dog. I got to see one crane up close - within 8 feet. They're so goofy when they walk!

Finally finished this after several months. Got to the middle and just couldn't stomach opening it I'm for a while. Good food-for-thought for me. I rarely think bout cultural differences at work. I doubt they're ever as large as this, but maybe that's ignorance.
