Summary:

Sora sighs a bit too dramatically to be serious. Shaking his head, he plants his hands on his hips. "Strength is great and all, but where's your defense? Your supports?"

Riku blinks. His what now? "I... have my barrier," he responds slowly. "And I can heal." His eyes flit down to his covered wrist. It still aches when he twists it too sharply, otherwise, it's numb, and he's not sure that's better. "The important parts, anvways."

Sora's mouth turns downwards more and more the longer Riku speaks, frown clearly defined when Riku decides to stop talking for his own good. "So, no armor," he surmises and Riku can't help the flash of embarrassment that flits through him, like he failed some test he didn't know he was taking.

It is not that he is unaware of the nature of the tests that were performed on them. The upgrades, the studies, the "medicines" and injections. They are all experiments, no different from the generic clones they'd water and grow in glorified test tubes. Much the same, they are designed to never say no. To always submit to the King's word as law because the King's word is law.

Was. Not anymore.

But is that true?

Their father formed them to his liking in the womb and even his greatest successes weren't good enough for his greed. Maybe because he hated to see the one thing he lacked—a spine.

So why not tear it out and replace it with something obedient. They all have different restraints, but they are restraints nonetheless.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

God okay last thing I promise!! Wip wed and to the surprise of no one I cannot focus on anything for more than two weeks + I’ve been re/reading the crow cries at midnight which made me wanna go back to my one of my p5 post canon aus, rose gold, where goro ends up an inaba due to reasons 💛 #zephwips

He blinks at the pair of stockinged knees suddenly before him, flicking his gaze up to reach the big brown eyes staring down at him with concern. Over her shoulder stands a familiar bulky figure with grown out, bleached hair. A hand reaches out and moves his bangs and he flinches, both from proximity and embarrassment. It’s been days since he’s washed his hair, days since he’s done much of anything aside from rotting through his floorboards. The bathroom has the mirror. He doesn’t particularly want to encounter it again.

He swallows and all it accomplishes is sparking pain down his desert dry throat, but he has no chance of speaking otherwise, so he does it. “I’m fine,” he says and it’s by far the least believable lie to ever pass his lips. A breakfast of grit and gravel is a generous excuse for the state his voice is in.

It wouldn’t have mattered if the words were delivered with perfect ease, anyways. Not when he attempts to lever himself up to his knees only for his arms to give out near instantly and send him crashing back to the floor in a pathetic heap.

He suppresses the urge to curl in on himself and wither into a husk at inhuman speeds, but just barely. Instead, he just closes his eyes and waits for the ridicule to begin.
