Yeah I'm pretty amazed that it can be accurate throughout a wide range (only tested up to 20V since I don't have 32V adaptor yet) Do take note that they don't have reverse current protection, just a minor inconvenience for charging batteries~ :p

I know they're quite a greedy cash grab since I played DVM. But idk why this one hits me so hard as a DV fan. My disappointment is immeasurable.. Honestly, I prefer their usual simplistic artworks rather than fuckin' gachafied everything with slop.

Seems like lots of reused assets from DVC as well, slapped with uncanny generated animations. Even worse, if you leave a review, it will get replied by generated response anyway. :)

DV3 feels like a mix of DVC and DVM.. only much worse. It's hard af. Hard not to puke when looking at chock full of generated imagery. Not to mention that it's also possibly the worst gacha I've ever played. Characters, equipments, even skins that gives you stat boost? ffs gimme a break.

So, that arbitrary palette dithering project is mainly because I want to convert images into 16 color display like my old Garmin 235 watch. Their app already does the conversion, but idk why I don't particularly like how it looks~

LRT: for limited palette, of course GIF still mostly wins, but for resampled image like I posted before, JXL wins by quite a margin. E7 btw, not much difference with E10 for JXL

however, since this specific image dithering is kind of a known area to improve, someone already have a proper library for it that does the same: github.com/matejlou/tet... (and without 3rd party dependencies as well, so it's much easier to integrate!)

and as for the tool, I can't release it yet since it's a chock full of unsafe C++ practices since it's originally just a fun project to explore image dithering, but I keep throwing new stuffs at it without proper structures =P but most importantly, I haven't implemented JXL save and load yet! xD

one of my favorite palette is Game Boy~ very interesting how it can give such a rich appearance only form 4 colors though this one is kinda an edge case, since most of the mapped input colors are falling outside the target palette gamut / hull and I had to clamp / project it back

and while I'm already have CGAL installed, I sure gotta try another method~ though, natural neighbor interpolation only looks slightly better on few specific palettes like this one. most of the time it introduces too much noise instead

Dither technique comparison between:
Top: Tetrahedral barycentric, up to 4 (color) point weights per sample.
Bottom: Sibson interpolation / natural neighbor, can get >4 point weights per sample.

I was initially about to rawdog the whole triangulation implementation using just vanilla Qt, but vector and matrix math is not my strong suit and my head feels like about to explode lmao. well, library it is, CGAL my savior~

so continuing that dither project, I want to make ordered dither also work on arbitrary color palettes. and boy that was quite a ride.. while the bit-reduction dither was as simple as linear interpolation between individual channels, arbitrary palette needs more elaborate method.

Image color reduction with 4-bit RGBI palette. Top is using GIMP by converting RGB color into indexed, bottom is using tetrahedral interpolation.

They need to access the whole data for a complete context "understanding". And they will save every interaction as a training data to make a "better model". Sure, maybe some have an opt-out choice, but will you still confident enough to send your personal data to be processed outside your system..?
