Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 03/09/2026did a CS cleanup and didn't expect that I have enough capacity to fit a smaller derg bot~ she have fren now! (also an extra, I tried a simpler character look~) #PSO2NGS 171
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 21/08/2026should have added the default garmin app dithering as well~ 020
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 19/08/2026So, that arbitrary palette dithering project is mainly because I want to convert images into 16 color display like my old Garmin 235 watch. Their app already does the conversion, but idk why I don't particularly like how it looks~ 090
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 16/08/2026"I wonder how much dem racks gobble up RAM to cause global shortage--" "...damn" Ref: www.wheresyoured.at/premium-the-... 160
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 16/08/2026LRT: for limited palette, of course GIF still mostly wins, but for resampled image like I posted before, JXL wins by quite a margin. E7 btw, not much difference with E10 for JXL 140
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 10/08/2026one of my favorite palette is Game Boy~ very interesting how it can give such a rich appearance only form 4 colors though this one is kinda an edge case, since most of the mapped input colors are falling outside the target palette gamut / hull and I had to clamp / project it back 121
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 10/08/2026and while I'm already have CGAL installed, I sure gotta try another method~ though, natural neighbor interpolation only looks slightly better on few specific palettes like this one. most of the time it introduces too much noise instead 120
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 09/08/2026so continuing that dither project, I want to make ordered dither also work on arbitrary color palettes. and boy that was quite a ride.. while the bit-reduction dither was as simple as linear interpolation between individual channels, arbitrary palette needs more elaborate method. 2212
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 08/05/2026*checks the last time I calibrated this display* December 2023 ...either my colorimeter drift together with my monitor (which is absolutely unlikely) or the monitor is just that stable. Note that this is my daily screen and almost never got turned off. 030
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 18/03/2026CW: mild hardware gore lmao Blown zener and tiny bypass cap... Now fixing it up. Ugh I should've be more careful when extracting those parts as I ripped the tracks as well 040
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 17/03/2026I keep forgetting how powerful Krita's "Lambert Lighting" blend mode is.. perfect mode whenever I'm going "lazy" with shading and want a single layer (or group) for both shade and lighting w/o resorting to gradient map. I like how it properly darken the opposing color when using colored lights~ 030
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 09/03/2026Updated CDN comparison on dark tones, boosted brightness from the original image and upscaled for clearer differences. OG is uploaded directly through API to my PDS, 16bpc lossy. The dithering pattern is coming from 16 to 8 bit conversion for display. Though, the default is still served as webp :p 150
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 02/03/2026another dark fluff set~ darn I love this armor set so much xD was aiming to use full classic parts, but still ended up using few ngs spec parts for the muzzle and eyes~ #PSO2NGS 0183
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 11/02/2026⚠ FLASHING LIGHTS ⚠ Had a bad thunderstorm yesterday and pretty long power outage so I got bored with camera. And boy oh boy that was the longest stroke duration that I've ever captured 0130
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 08/02/2026"oh no, I have clogs and inefficiencies on my factory" meanwhile me: "oooh blinky lights" *stares for hours 171
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 10/01/2026These was held on 6/21 last year (and yes, I was the one who cosplayed as esix xD) 020
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 07/01/2026trying to make a winter look and ended up loving it ahhh--- #PSO2NGS 0151
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 04/01/2026LRT: it was another direct upload to PDS to check which metadata got stripped by the CDN. Turns out the EXIF is intact, but sadly color profile got stripped (it was saved in R.2020 profile), well at least it got correctly converted to sRGB~ 050
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 14/10/2025man that's a lot of garbage text data they scraped for the past month until today.. and it seems to occur in a weekly cycle furthermore, this is with bandwidth limit enabled. can't even imagine if my hosting server had much beefier specs and bandwidth... 270
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 09/10/2025*trying to figure out in what format the images are stored* 030
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 05/10/2025ughh, math bite me hard. apparently there was a slight miscalculation that gave me slight greenish tint even at 100%. fixed pic, though non-linear colorspace scaling or chroma subsampling still give a greenish tint~ 131
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 05/10/2025close-up~ it's just a basic ordered / bayer dithering, but the bitdepth (R1G2B1) is kinda unusual, therefore it got a bit more shades of green available. but I think that's not the main reason why it got a greenish tint when resizing or chroma downsampling~ 120
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 04/10/2025the original image is an indexed PNG, originally comes from reducing the image into 4 bit (R1G2B1). it should be displayed correctly when viewed at 100%, or scaled when opened on a viewer that has a linear(?) interpolation, CMIIW. here's a comparison when opening it in tev vs win photos at 50% 210
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 04/10/2025lossless version, also dithering is magic. might as well for checking whether the browser / viewer interpolates 'correctly' during resizing =p 19116
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 30/09/2025AND THE WAY HIS MOTHER CARESSES HIM AAAHHH-- SO PRECIOUS I CAN'T-- 030
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 22/09/2025another test with colorchecker patches from: babelcolor.com/colorchecker... these pixels are dense. I throw some spatial dithering and it still looks good. (and it seems pretty robust as well, I once reversed the supply polarity, got insanely hot and almost fried it~ but here it is, still alive) 040
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 22/09/2025the results are surprising though. for a cheap IPS display (less than USD 3), having a low bitdepth, and subpar gamut (~60% sRGB), it behaves pretty well after calibration~ honestly, I was pretty disappointed at first with the washed-out look of this module~ :p 140
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 22/09/2025behold, the smallest screen that I ever calibrate & profile though this is absolutely far from ideal.. not only that I don't have the proper correction, a tiny bump to this setup can throw off the process lol 150
Zephyra @zephyr.kampidh.com · 08/09/2025Tried to make a calibration profile, basically just a 'simple' 1D LUT curve that's loaded into Luma3ds. The result is pretty good, both the top IPS and bottom TN screen behaves well~ (but it does look funny when playing a game, as if playing through a desktop emulator) before <-> after 131
