![THE LALAFELL NSFW DEBATE IN A NUTSHELL
(thanks, high school debate classes):
Bailey - The harder to defend argument.
Motte - The easy to defend argument.
Too hard to prove the "bailey" argument?
Claim you were just making the "motte" argument all along!
Comment in a text bubble: Many people who claim to be against art/fiction being censored (or puritan ethics) still discriminate against adult Lalafell players, especially those who ship or create NSFW art.
Many players report being hurt by related accusations.
Bailey argument against the comment: I feel that any Lalafell NSFW content is pedophilic, regardless of the stated age of the characters involved.
I will imply that anyone who engages with said works is doing so for covertly pedophilic reasons that apply to themselves IRL.
[Argument retreats to]
Motte argument: Stop pushing Lalafell NSFW onto us. I am allowed to be uncomfortable, that isn't censoring you!
OR (second example):
Comment in a text bubble: I'm a Lalafell player who has an adult character, ships, creates NSFW art, etc. If you are uncomfortable
just block me. Do not harass us or claim without any evidence that we are groomers/pedos.
Bailey argument against the comment: Fictional depictions of shipping or sex can be generalized to IRL harm, or cause IRL harm. Because of that, I can draw direct comparisons between Lala NSFW and QoS, pedophilia, bigotry, etc. and it is also true that fictional visuals that cause me discomfort are morally harmful.
[Argument retreats to]
Motte argument: But it is true that Lalafell models are diminutive and "child-like." You can't argue with that, it's in official game text. We are just pointing out the official association!
In none of these cases are the motte and bailey arguments stating the same things.
No one cares if you are personally uncomfortable with NSFW
of fantasy dwarf people. That's always been fine as a preference.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:aspdg6gqrslae3cdwqhbincd/bafkreiap5ojpfmvki5uyx2otav4bi2y5etw3gufngbxczczw6uu6tnsxae)
