You can call me a sucker but two tropes will always get me, a well earned "Spirit Bomb" moment and a well written "talk no jutsu" (I will also accept a Spider-Man on the train moment variant for Spirit Bomb)

I have let so many campaigns die because I just have 0 tolerance in my bones for scheduling. If it takes more than 3 attempts to get a next session scheduled I'm probably out, even if we've been playing for a year #ttrpg #dnd

Do you ever just DM someone casually and then clock that you don’t regularly talk to this person, so it might feel a bit abrupt to them? 😅 Like, in my mind, all the TTRPG people go to the same school and I pass you in the hallways every day even if we might not take the same classes, ya know? haha

Wish I was surprised by this #ttrpg #dnd #wotc

Meme from Iron Man. Obadiah Stane labeled "Hasbro Executives" yelling at scientist labeled "Sigil Dev" "ROLL20 BUILT THIS IN A CAVE WITH SCRAPS!!!'

Working with my cartographer to fill in some of the unfinished gaps in this continent has renewed my #ttrpg enthusiasm, the ideas for worldbuilding and lore connected to other areas of the broader world have me writing like never before! Begs the question of how many campaigns is too many 😬😬

PSA that unsolicited criticism never helps. A comment from me saying “I’m not sure if I like that piece” is not an invitation for you to come in and give me several paragraphs of “advice”.

#GMTip for #TTRPG enthusiasts: Want better combat? Make your turns feel important. "I hit it with my axe... 13? 9 damage." is the least interesting thing in the whole entire world. Bake into your turn what your PC/NPC is thinking, feeling, seeing, hearing, smelling - what they want to achieve.

It pains me to say it, but remember the people with “oh I don’t watch TV” as a personality. I think we have to bring those guys back

My brain is so cooked from running actual plays that I don’t even remember what a normal game is like. I can’t remember the last time I played dnd that wasn’t shown to a larger audience than the people at the table.

I’m closer to 40 than I am 30, and I still do the “game of chicken slow lean in” move for my first kiss with someone because if I confidently lean in for a kiss and she leans back, I’m walking into traffic idc idc.

Authors if you see this, its a sign to post the first line of your book. "I could not tell you which I forgot first: my mother, or the day my father caved her skull in with an oil lamp." (Dysley's Degrees of Certainty, a new adult fantasy novel in revision hell)

I’m learning that a lot of things about me that I thought were just quirky little goofs are actually debilitating symptoms of mental illness

Something I’ve been thinking about: In many TTRPGs, the GM experiences the story in 3rd person omniscient— they know what’s happening “off screen”, they know what people are thinking. But the players are in 1st person limited: they only know what they experience. This is… really complicated? —->

I also beg each and every one of you to talk to your table about what happens when you USE safety tools during a session. Using an X card, calling for a [STOP], or asserting a VEIL shouldn't be regretted or cause someone to defend it like an academic thesis. USING the tools is the important bit
