When Whithers tells you that he can perform resurrections for 200gp, your character can say, “That’s outrageous!” I have to assume they mean that it’s expensive. I wish it let you express that 200g to come back from the dead is actually very cheap.

Imagination Library is her major ongoing charitable org, but I remember hearing a story about all the smaller efforts she spun up in response to disasters, used to directly give to the effected, and then shut down by disbursing everything that was left to locals. Model direct aid at scale.

One of the problems inherent to adversarial structures of governance is the way that all you aren’t allowed to just like things because sentiment is a weakness that political opponents can exploit, so you end up insisting that, for instance, you only like boats because you’ve made them useful.

Broken Clocks aren’t necessarily right twice a day if they’re still running, and Catholicism is a clock made of slipped gears, where the second hand occasionally gets stuck and the minute hand will occasionally drop from 3 to 5. Which is why I think it’s extra funny when they’re just bang on right.

Tbh, most people drawn to bard would be happier with the Sorcerer or Monk tool kit reimagined as performance. Or be well served by the straightforwardness of Fighter, come down to it. They would make more thorough use of the game without having to compromise their artistic vision.

So @gamewoven.bsky.social has these folks that stick plant matter on their bodies and it becomes functional. The main example is vines, willow fronds, and kelp being used as prehensile additional limbs, but we’ve talked about bark as a sort of armor. Anyone got cool ideas for other stuff?

This makes me think about facilitating Adversary, which is an unnecessary but useful role in playing the game. The Adversary is purely reactionary and there aren’t mechanical decisions to make, but offloading the rules process and narrating Adversary actions when appropriate frees up the players.
