I feel like we don’t talk about millennials in particular, hitting our 40s - in earlier generations many of us would be reaching the peak of our careers, but because of disaster after disaster, locust after locust eating our industries, many of us are on our 3rd or 4th fresh start.

Wow. LOISH got accused of using Ai to make her art. I started following her on early deviantart. I remember first seeing her paintings in college. This is ridiculous, no one is safe. Artists Ive followed for actual decades are getting harassed because their work has been stolen and regurgitated.

One thing that also bothers me is the rush to make everything a video. You make videos? Cool that's for you. You're drawing? Make videos. You're a crafts person? Make videos. You make music? Make videos. Everything has to be relevant to please an algorithm even though it's not your main thing.

If you want to see indie projects succeed, you have to spearhead the support for them. Talk openly about other people’s work and how much you like it, draw fanart, reshare content about the project, send it to a friend, leave comments on every update, donate money, etc.

I had a small readership at Tapas, and I eventually burned out a bit from doing all the mirroring, so I updated there sporadically. Still, readers were very kind and patient, so I truly hope they'll keep reading the comic elsewhere.

I think making your own site is always always worth it, even if it feels no one reads the comic there. It allows you to still have a space to direct your audience to. Will it be enough to maintain a large readership that can sustain you as a comic artist nowadays? I'm not so sure, and it sucks

I will always keep having my own site, and I want to upgrade the site design and interface as well - but the truth is most people aren't reading comics in individual sites. It's more convenient to have all your comics in a hub, telling you when they update with easy to read interface on your phone
