THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF BIOLOGY OF MYOCBACTERIA GRC WILL BE IN 2028, NOT 2027. Exact date and location TBD. Sorry about the long wait, but we think it is better long term. PLEASE repost/tell your friends!

Discovery of gene functions in #Mycobacterium #tuberculosis has been slow. This study tests a genome-wide barcoded #transposon library across 95 environmental conditions, providing a rich resource of new gene functions, including metabolic & resistance pathways @plosbiology.org 🧪 plos.io/4vG0mz1
Overview of RB-TnSeq screens. Top left: Schematic for RB-TnSeq screen experimental set-up. Top middle: Pie chart depicting the number of RB-TnSeq screens completed for each category. Top right: Previously published TnSeq fitness with 27ng/mL isoniazid plotted against BarSeq fitness with 25 ng/mL isoniazid. Dotted line represents linear correlation between statistically significant hits from RB-TnSeq with TnSeq. Bottom left: BarSeq fitness (log2 fold change) for sugI (Rv3331) and sugA (Rv1236). Bottom right: Cofitness data for Rv3220c and Rv1626.

Thrilled to see this work finally published! It started in 2016 as my first PhD project. Went down a few rabbit holes and eventually wrapped up the story. It was really surprising to see lipid-bound Pks13 on whole-cell lysate SDS-PAGE. Thank Shu Sin @figlegend.bsky.social for the continuous support!

Finally, someone has solved a real problem with AI! No more having to take a paper in the format for a journal that rejected you, and reformat it for a new journal. Well done!! formatmypaper.com

Key findings from the 2024 Global TB Report: 1. TB is the world's deadliest infectious disease even though it's curable (1,250,000 dead in 2023). 2. The global burden is growing even as deaths (slowly) decrease. 3. We're doing a (slightly) better job of identifying cases. www.who.int/publications...

Believe it or not, GRC has told me we need more registered applicants or this meeting might not survive! Please don't let that happen if you can afford to attend 🙏
