8 or 9 years ago, around launch, it was a kinda wacky cartoony shooter. You can still play that as “Save the World”. But I don’t actually remember if it started as crossover slop, or just became that once Epic Games realized how much money they could make.

I might be gassing up Nintendo here a bit much, but the difference is that Smash Bros puts a lot of care into making sure its crossover characters are represented faithfully. Fortnite just makes you long. Are you popular? You’re in. That’s why I call it “slop”.

Yes. He does call you to remind you of your next destination about as often as Prime 1 did. I actually found him endearing. To me he behaved like how a poorly trained person would in that situation. He’s a mechanic, not a soldier, and thought he was stranded alone on an unknown world.

See, in any other situation I wouldn’t feel the need to defend an 8.5/10 game like this. But Metroid Prime, a 10/10 game, was right there and there aren’t really any other games like the Prime series. Also the Metroid fanbase has gaslit itself into thinking Prime 4 is somehow worse than Other M.

I never cared for Grand Theft Auto. Has nothing to do with GTA VI and the hype surrounding it, I didn’t care for V, IV or III, either. If I wanna play a ridiculous open-world game where you assume the role of a gangster, I’ll just play Saints Row, specifically 3 or 4.

For me it’s Final Fantasy XIV. In the words of Peter from this scene, “It insists upon itself”, meaning it’s so long and such an enormous time commitment. Critically it takes forever to “get good” and I just don’t have the time or patience for this kind of game anymore.

I will forever maintain that Metroid Prime 4 is a good game. It's ambitious, it's grand, it tried something new and bold, and I loved how it expanded upon the Galactic Federation and world of Metroid, even if its more ambitious ideas didn't quite pan out. Hope we get a sequel.

But yes, after Prime 4 didn't do too well, I'm also holding out hope for Prime 5 to pick up the slag again. I liked Prime 4, and still do, but it's obvious Retro had to salvage what was put there by Bandai Namco.
