NEW on the YsLink blog: I sat down with @kaisaan.bsky.social to chat about the unique difficulties of modding Ys III and Ys V, and learned just a ton more in the process. www.ys-link.net/blog/2026/09...

[New Blog Post!] A lot of people are saying The Adventures of Elliot feels more like Ys than Zelda. So I decided to put the theory to the test in this Impressions post on the YsLink blog! www.ys-link.net/blog/2026/07...

The YsLink Resources page has been updated, as I promised in my anniversary blog post! This is just a start, but I've added more clear categorization, even more/updated resources, and explanations for each. I'd love to add more music resources in the near future too. www.ys-link.net/games/resour...

Here's my 3x3 of important games in my life. I'm still not sure if Ys IX or Ys VIII is my favorite, but Ys VIII is what got me into the series in earnest and so it earned its spot here!

A three by three grid of games that were important to me. In order: Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy XIV, Immortality, Guild Wars 2, Skyrim, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Call of Duty, Ys VIII, and Pokemon Blue

IMO it's Blaziken. I thought about finding one with a sword but I think red + fighter is more important

We are officially one week away from the NA release of Ys X: Proud Nordics! I'm planning on starting a replay right away. What new features are you most looking forward to?

I think if Adol played MMOs he'd be really into fishing. I will not be elaborating on this.

My impressions on Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga are live! It's a fun, fast-paced fighter with lots of content for Falcom appreciators. Thanks so much to @refint.games for trusting this brand new fan site with a review code and granting early access. www.ys-link.net/blog/2025/10...

With the release of Ys vs. Trails: Alternative Saga, now's a great time to update my Ys Games page! I've added distinct sections and the non-canon games have their own links. Right now they all go to the same page, but I'll spend the next week giving each game its own entry. www.ys-link.net/games/

Wow! Lots of thoughts about the original Trails in the Sky FC. Very different from what I had envisioned. Really satisfying turn-based combat. Fascinated to see where the story goes from here, but SC will have to wait a bit.

Among the many things I loved about Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys, the boss portraits were always complete peak. Full of character and brimming with menace. Not a miss among them.

A rock solid three-phase final boss, beautifully illustrated character portraits, and a soaring 80s-style synth jazz outro score. I'm going to be just gushing about Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys for the next week, I'm sure. A top Ys game that I should have played sooner.

I figured I would enjoy Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys, but what I didn't expect was the genuinely emotional return to Darm Tower and communing with Reah and Feena. Got me good, Hudson Soft.

During Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys you climb the Great Roda Tree and learn some lore about the Winged Ones. I thought Hudson Soft handled this cinematic quite artfully, but I did laugh when they mentioned that the civilization lasted for "a thousand years...and seven months." Like OK. Oddly specific.

I just beat Tokyo Xanadu and I'm never going to shut up about how you drive to the final dungeon in a passenger van. Then they put a shield around it and just hit things. Amazing stuff.

Been playing Tokyo Xanadu on my Vita and having a great time. Ys VIII-like combat with a Persona-like story and setting. Plus, you get the occasional cheeky Falcom reference.

After a hilarious amount of effort and the purchase of a PlayStation TV to complement my PlayStation Vita, I can now stream my Vita library to my PC (with audio). I honestly might do a blog post about this journey, if only because so many great Ys games can be had on these systems.
