Original roughs for @magicwhistle.bsky.social's brilliant thought metaphor run. The capper on this hits like the first time EVERY time.

Three rough storyboard panels in graphite on yellow post-it.

PANEL 1: A Manager SpongeBob in a visor shouts at a harried Worker SpongeBob going through a file cabinet.
MANAGER: Hurry up! What do you think I'm PAYING you for?!
WORKER: You don't pay me! We don't even exist!

PANEL 2: Managerlooks shocked while Worker explains:
WORKER: We're just a clever visual metaphor used to personify the abstract concept of thought!

PANEL 3: Miffed Manager thumbs over his shoulder while Worker screams back, distressed.
MANAGER: One more crack like that and you're outta here!
WORKER: No! Please! I have three kids!

Just saw Forgotten Island. It’s so good! It made me laugh, cry, and smiling! I am sad there’s not much attention to this movie! Go see it when you can!

The bad news is I can't use Spyro and Sparks as my main characters. The good news is I like this image more.

During critique I showed my Ruby illustration to the class and my professor said I would be very good in character design for a video game or animation company. :o

What's a poster you had in your room growing up? When I was seven I had a Powderpuff Girls poster of the girls beating the crap out of Mojo and parts of his brain came out. It had pink hears behind it too.

Brothers and Sisters. Postcard from my collection, mailed 1905.

Black-and-white photo of two tabby kittens and two tabby and white kittens. They are sitting on a little studio scene with books and a wooden box that looks like a jewelry box or humidor. Text at the bottom says brothers and sisters.

Three more weeks until my Digital Career class is done. While I still don't know if I'll go into the digital art or animation industry, it was still informative.

I think I'm done. I want to add more details. But there's so much going on already. Plus my Adobe Illustrator program almost broke on me for having thousands of layers! #spyrothedragon

I really didn't want to sit for two and a half hours of lecture about shadows. So while I listen to the lecture, I did part of my Spyro assignment. Added lanterns in the tree, a lamb, and flowers. I should stop here. I might try to make Spyro next. #spyrothedragon

I don't feel very motivated to sit in a two hour class. But I also want to graduate next year so I'll buy myself a coffee and go to class.

My illustration project so far! It's not close to finished. I need to add Spyro, details, shading and lighting to it. Luckily I have two weeks to work on it! But I'm having so much fun with this! I want to work on it until it's done. But I have other assignments to work on.

What you need to understand is nothing we built was “off the shelf.” Store-bought environmental assets for stop-motion features do not exist. We were given concept art and told “make it look like this.” Everything you see here, down to the dirt and moss, was meticulously designed and crafted.

The Disney renaissance movies used to look different. They were planned to be printed on 35 mm film -- that's how they were first released. Modern editions skip that last step in the process. It was a highly developed, overlooked craft, as we explore: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/disneys-fi...

When I was a kid, I was either reading a lot or drawing a lot. And I was very fortunate to have parents and teachers supporting me drawing and reading. I still have that support to this day. Which is why I'm going to school for Digital Art and Animation.

When I was thirteen, my step dad would tell me parts of this book. I wanted to read it so he gave me a big green book with books 1-4. I would carry it around to read it all the time. Family members would tease me for reading all the time. I didn't care! I loved this book!
