Getting on a bit. Accidentally swapped city working for rural Wales. Miss IKEA though. Of is not a verb. Same school of thought as Kathy Burke when it comes to being woke. Posting anonymously until I retire 😎

I've watched him a bit over the last 15 months and he's coming along really well. Still a sweetie but now so much more aware.

Start as you mean to go on. 😁 Looking back now I've been lucky enough to see some bloody amazing gigs. Thinking back I also saw Michael Jackson at that same venue but can't remember now whether he was there before Bowie!

I imagine their PL insurers will also have a say and in my limited experience their focus is not on the strength of the claim but potential risk on costs. Since any costs over a set deductible will come from the insurers they will expect final dibs on whether to pay something to make it go away.

I loved that documentary. That said, I have a slight old lady crush on Mr Farnaby 😁 What I hadn't realised until yesterday was that it was pretty much common knowledge locally that he was buried under the car park. Just local gossip handed down the years.

See my previous post! The result was dire for Welsh Labour even factoring in a degree of tactical voting. But you've just highlighted 2 matters which have not been a factor of any significance insofar as Welsh Labour are concerned. Now if you'd mentioned the 20mph limit you'd be on firmer ground 🙂

We'll have to disagree there. But I think you're also viewing Welsh Labour as well ... Westminster Labour. In Wales Labour have been in power for decades. They are not the new kids on the block as per UK. I think a lot of the frustration in Wales lies with "wanting change" as per the UK GE in 2024.

I will disagree. Police investigate reports of offences & some will require a big response, especially if public safeguarding is needed. But if it was just a bloke with cleaning fluid what exactly are they supposed to arrest him for? Not all investigations result in arrest let alone a later charge.

I doubt "happy" under such desperately sad circumstances where I'm pretty sure they will be very aware of the likely outcome but as the law stands police have a duty to investigate. There is specific NPCC guidance on the subject. The law needs to change. If/when it does so will the police response.

🙄🙄 Whilst the law is what it is police have no bloody option but to investigate a reported breach of Section 2 Suicide Act. In many, many cases the CPS will decide not to charge (usually on public interest element) but they can only decide that on the basis of evidence submitted by the police.

Not a hope. The Welsh 20mph limit along certain sections of the carriageway has now confirmed positive outcomes for reducing serious injury/death, road pollution, lower car insurance etc etc. The usual idiots, apoplectic that their 10 minutes trip might now take 12 mins, have not shut up one drop.

Well you can and you can say why but you still retain access until that period ends. Which I had very naively not thought through when I cancelled

If you pay annually you can still access until the end of the year. As I found out when I cancelled (and said why). Getting a refund out of them is another road to hell.

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey: “I've written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, urging them to join me in condemning Elon Musk's dangerous remarks inciting violence yesterday. “As leaders, we must stand together and make clear Musk will face serious consequences for these actions.”
Rt Hon Sir Edward Davey MP
HOUSE OF COMMONS
LONDON SWIA OAA
The Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP,
Prime Minister
Sent by email
Sunday 14 September 2025
Dear Prime Minister,
The attempts this weekend by Elon Musk to sow discord and incite violence on our streets represent a serious and dangerous interference in our democracy. Speaking at the "Unite the Kingdom" march organised by far-right hate preacher Tommy Robinson, Musk told the crowd that "violence is coming" and that "you either fight back or you die".
The United Kingdom has always prided itself on resolving disagreements through debate, through the ballot box, and through the rule of law. The recent conduct of Elon Musk - deliberately spreading misinformation, stoking anger and encouraging violence - represents a reckless and dangerous assault on those values. This attempt to endanger public safety and meddle in our politics must be met with clarity and resolve.
At times like this, it is vital that the people of our country see their leaders united. That is why l am writing to urge each of you to put party politics aside and join me in publicly condemning these dangerous remarks, and to jointly consider what sanctions Elon Musk should face as a consequence. We must make clear that no individual, however wealthy or powerful, can get away with using their platform to inflame tensions and incite violence.
At the same time, we must uphold freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest without fear of violence, intimidation, or manipulation from abroad.
The strength of Britain lies in our shared commitment to mutual respect, decency and the rule of law. If we fail to speak with one voice now, we risk emboldening those who want to threaten these values and undermine our democracy.
I hope you will join me in making this important stand.
Yours sincerely,
Eer Da
Ed Davey
MP for Kingston and Surbiton
Leader of the Liberal Democrats

Police forces will often do things differently. I've never had anything to do with the Met (I'm not an officer or ex officer either, just have some experience of police processes) so wouldn't even want to hazard a guess tbh.

He's had his moments definitely but I suspect not to to the extent he tilted elections in the Crowns favour 😁 Some USians have a deeply weird understanding of British royalty. It makes me think of Jonathan Groff as King George III in Hamilton singing You'll Be Back.

Many millions of Brits would happily see the back of the royal family. Personally I could go for someone like the Irish president (and his gorgeous dog) as an alternative. Imagine Ian McKellan 🥰 I'd be reluctant to consider any alternative head of state with any whit of power. Keep it performative.

As for those arrested last week being "let go (again)" that's normal procedure. They'd have been arrested, processed in custody and released under investigation pending a charging decision, which will be for the CPS.

The Snapdragon @yddraigsnap.bsky.social · 14/09/2025
They won't have avoided arrest 🙄 There were literally no police officers there to make an immediate arrest. But they will be picking up things from review of CCTV and social media as well as BWV during those physical confrontations.

The Snapdragon @yddraigsnap.bsky.social · 14/09/2025
That was a completely different scenario. That crowd were not going to kick off. Plus, I didn't see any police officers within hearing distance of those remarks and I sincerely doubt other "protesters" yesterday would have reported him for an immediate arrest.

We executed Charles I in 1649. It's clear you have no functioning knowledge of UK history or politics. Like many millions of Brits I would happily see the back of the royal family but any suggestion they "tilt" elections is risible and ignorant. I also hate playing chess with pigeons.

Oh I agree FPTP is a ridiculous voting system. Wales & Scotland have had PR for some time now. It's highly embarrassing that the UK is the last remaining European country to use it for the Westminster parliament (bar Belarus but it's completely disingenuous to suggest the UK isn't a democracy.
