One of my favorite poems in needlepoint calligraphy. Needlepoint calligraphy with a Zebra G nib Ink is Robert Oster Lake of Fire fountain pen ink. #ArtAdventCalendar
The poem I Walked a Mile by Robert Browning Hamilton in needlepoint calligraphy. The fountain pen ink is dark blue with red undertones.

I walked a mile with Pleasure;
She chatted all the way;
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.

I walked a mile with Sorrow;
And ne’er a word said she;
But, oh! The things I learned from her,
When Sorrow walked with me.

I must have been added to some starter packs - hello, new followers! I am a paleoartist taking an on-again-off-again hiatus from drawn #artwork to take care of family members - in the meantime, I make sun catchers! alaskanime.etsy.com/?etsrc=sdt&ref=seller-platform-mcnav&section_id=53007571

We've been hearing announcements about possible artificial blood for as long as I've been in medicine and research (30+ years at this point) and none of them have ever panned out. Sooner or later, presumably, one of them will—and if this turns out to it, great. But I'm not holding my breath. ⚕️🧪

Scientists are developing artificial blood that could save lives in emergencies
A research team has successfully tested a blood substitute in animals, and human trials may not be far off. The powdered blood could help medics respond faster in a crisis.

“Our data provide evidence that supports continued investigations of [resiniferatoxin] to improve pain management for patients with advanced cancer experiencing intractable pain, especially when opioids fail or are poorly tolerated.” Full study results in NEJM Evidence: eviden.cc/4ks0BHA
A graph showing that systolic and diastolic pressure increased within 15 minutes after intrathecal injection procedures, peaking acutely, and at 3 hours when the patient was transferred to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, returning to preinjection baseline by 10 to 20 hours in all patients.

Which one should I illustrate next? 🎨 This is from my series Kintsugi, inspired by the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. As a med student, have been exploring what it means to be a healer and do my best for future patients. #sciart #medsky #medicalart

Your cognitively intact elderly parent may make decisions that you disagree with. They may even make decisions that could shorten their life. They have the right to make these decisions. It’s OK for you to not like this and also not try to control or change it. #palliativecare #medsky

New screening guidelines for osteoporosis were finalized this week. For women 65+, you should screened with a DEXA scan. For those who are post-menopausal and under 65 but with risk factors like significant alcohol or tobacco use, earlier screening is recommended. #medsky @nbcnews.com

I made this flubber model in 2008 & still show it all the time to teach about glacier ice flow in a valley & related topics. I’ve used this to talk about basics of glaciers with grade school students up to deriving shear & normal strain rates, & vorticity, with undergrad & grad students! Enjoy! 🧪
