Also, I don’t need or want infinite new music. Even if every human on earth stopped producing new music today, there is already enough existing music to last me a lifetime. There’s a reason people buy records. We want to listen to music we know and love over and over. It gets better each time!

Even if AI music was “good” I would not want to listen to it, because “infinite personalized music” is not what I’m looking for. Music is social. It’s relational. It’s about who made it, in what context, and who listened to it and when and where and why.

Like, I think a list of 200 notable coming of age films might be something I'd be interested in browsing. Or maybe a list of 60 underrated or lesser-known coming of age films. Those are numbers I can work with. But I can't process over 20,000 entries in list of anything.

For example, click on a coming of age film and you'll see that it's in a list called "A Comprehensive list of Coming of Age films," which has 21,958 films in it. This is completely useless.

I'm fascinated by how useless the "popular lists" feature on Letterboxd is. There's nothing broken about the feature itself, but the types of lists users seem to enjoy, which is to say, enormous lists with thousands of titles in them.

Yeah what’s maddening is how this has always been possible for as long as social media data has been around. Anyone could technically write a script to compile this data. AI agents just lower the barrier to basically zero.

This makes me so angry. What does that even mean? If Eggers wants to be faithful to the language of Shakespeare, he can just use the original text, which is in Early Modern English. As countless other film adaptations have done, by the way.

WTF is this nonsense? There is no such thing as “Olde English” and Shakespeare certainly wasn’t writing in this made up language. Old English is a language. Shakespeare wasn’t writing in that language either.

As befitting a filmmaker who is known for his meticulous attention to detail in capturing a time period, even when it comes to dialogue, sources say that this adaptation will feature actors speaking in Olde English.
