This @espn.com “commercial break” screen on espn+ is so annoying. The volume is a lot louder than the game itself and the sound is random studio noises. Give us a view of the stadium if you can’t sell ads for the game.

Until we had a better solution I found the Shairport-Sync (github.com/mikebrady/sh...) open source project that lets you airplay audio to a computer. I used an old mini-PC that I wasn’t using for anything else and used some old PC speakers. This worked great.

I like seeing all the fake “prop” technology in IKEA stores and today I saw this. I immediately recognized the unit as a TiVo series 2 unit, and looked closer and saw that it was indeed a real unit with the TiVoman peeled off. Weird seeing that instead of a cardboard box as a generic DVR.

I will also say that it is nice that I was able to buy a replacement DC-in jack from Dell for this 6 year old laptop. $10 and it works again. I’ll probably need to buy a new battery too, that’s going to be another $100.

I’ve been playing with different Linux distros on my old laptop. I’ve been enjoying Bazzite for the game support, but I want to try and see if I can use this for more day to day stuff. Installing ZorinOS now, then I might try more traditional distros like Mint.

Partially checked off a bucket list item today when we took a short detour and visited Metropolis, IL. I wish we had more time to spend as it was just a “jump out of the car, take some photos, and get back on the road” stop. As a lifelong Superman fan, this was so cool. I will be back one day.

Is this the number 0 or the letter O? The @ncaa.bsky.social March Madness app on Apple TV doesn’t make any distinction when logging into your tv provider. It’s the letter O BTW. I tried half a dozen times with a zero before figuring this out.

My current #homelab project is cleaning up the network mess where my fiber comes into the house. Top down is my new Unifi Cloud Gateway Ultra, a TL-SG105E switch, then a TL-SG108PE switch. The other 10" rack I did has 2 mini PCs & another SG108PE. This time I put it together in tinkercad first.

Anyone who loves RID 2001 Optimus Prime probably doesn’t have the tires any longer because the rubber cracked. I got a shapeways 3D print a few years ago that looked ok, but it was plastic. Recently I found this set on Etsy that are real rubber reproductions.
