For I am a salt-hag. I know gull gossip. I know the calling and quelling of storms. My hair is wind-braided. My lips wear rough salt kisses. I stand on the cliffs and read omens pulled by the tide. Be well and avoid my anger. – #EmilyCBanting, 1982 #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

So happy these came today. I’m looking forward to reading these gorgeous books. They are handcrafted beauties which show the attention to detail @gaspereaupress.bsky.social pours into their work. Oh, and the authors are also really good! #books #letterpress #canlit #reading
A photo displaying the spines of six handmade, letterpress books from Gaspereau Press. The spines are different colours and the paper dust jackets all have different textures. These books are a tactile delight.

The last people I had to mourn died after long illnesses, and you gradually resign yourself to it with each visit to the hospital. But with a sudden death it's afterwards that you have to kill them inside yourself, and even then you can only kill them little by little. - Michel Houellebecq

The more shit you store in the cloud, the more data centers they will build. Get an external hard drive and secure your own data. Stop paying them to destroy the country. How many cat videos do you need?
