2 solid novels in one book. The first one is a sequel to the 4th Alien movie the other one is another story wherein humans are actually the biggest monsters. From @titanbooks.bsky.social

Love this series of classic Japanese murder mysteries involving impossible locked room murders while also giving social commentary on pre and post WW2 Japanese culture, tradition and class system.

Entertaining 80's B creature feature about a killer cicada, a bitchy final girl and her asshole boyfriend. This book from @shortwavebooks.bsky.social and @tanyapell.bsky.social had me laughing out loud while it also has some gore. Recommended!

Sci fi horror about a teenage scientist, deaging, 5 elders on the brink of death, jellyfish and a mutating wolf. Such a good story. Nick Cutter wrote a book that reminded me of Crichtons Jurassic Park combined with later era Stephen King.

A dark and grim roadtrip through a plague and war torn medievel France where devils and demons roam and god is absent. This one is as good as its cover.

By far the most unhinged novel I've read this year but written by @paperbacksandpugs.bsky.social so it's still a very entertaining, fast read.

Is it possible to really do scare jumps in a book? @joshmalerman.bsky.social sure knows how. This book and its evil haunts more than the characters. What a creepy, original book.

xroldx @xroldx.bsky.social · 17/05/2026

Well if you are looking for a mystery involving a demon, a very dysfunctional family and a maid then this is the book for you. Light on the scary parts but great on keeping the reader guessing what's next.

80's creature feature homage that reads like you are on a rollercoaster. This is a book that you want to read in one go. Full on action from start to finish. By @alexebenstein.bsky.social @shortwavebooks.bsky.social

Psychological horror partly based on a true story about an outsider artist. This book is unique in how it's told, has some creepy parts and definitely solidifies @claymcleod.bsky.social as one of the best horror writers around. @titanbooks.bsky.social

Another very good book by indie horror author @paperbacksandpugs.bsky.social. If you like 90's grunge music and or hearfelt father daughter dynamics and or creepy monsters hiding in the woods then this is one book you should read.

Without a doubt 1 of the best books I've read so far this year. Coming of age meets atrocities of war meets supernatural horror. I didn't expect @pfracassi.bsky.social to write a book I would like better than Boys In The Valley. But Sarafina exceeded all my expectations. @blackcrowbooks.bsky.social

Don't ever go tresppasing with your kayak into a place with the criepiest little monsters and their devouring god. Adam Nevill wrote a very real and scary folk horror book.

Now this is one scary story. Very cinematic in how it's written and a real pageturner. It reminded me a bit of From. Another great one by Kliewer.

IT meets The Abyss. A mix of supernatural and more close to home horror. Pretty unhinged at times. A scary, claustrophobic book.

600+ pages in the Alien universe with one story taking place in NYC and involving a mad musician and the other story being your 'normal' team of marines on a bug killing mission gone wrong. Again a good one from @titanbooks.bsky.social

Wards' most accessible novel so far is still a dark, powerfull book. Bits reminded me of Yellowjackets and as always with @catrionaward.bsky.social she manages to surprise the reader with her storytelling.

This is not a day to day journal about 2026 but it is an action packed horror about a big group of influencers on a remote island than once was the island of a cannibalistic cult.

Bleak, extreme, weird. I have no idea where @ericlarocca.bsky.social is going with this trilogy about a gruesome small town and its elders but I'm in for the ride after reading book 1.

If there was one book to finish the year with it was going to be this. @sgj.bsky.social isn't easy to read but his stories of native american society and history, horror and in this case vampires are amongst the most compelling stories I've ever read.

xroldx @xroldx.bsky.social · 25/12/2025

A desolated Scottish town, four young adults and the curse of a witch... this is a very cinematic book with authentic characters, lots of blood and some unexpected events. Recommended. I will now read everything @paperbacksandpugs.bsky.social has published.

I hardly ever read fantasy but this tale of werewolf and vampire, elf and pirate, undead knight and necromancer sure was a rollercoaster filled with battle action, monsters, blood and laughter. @joeabercrombie.com summoned the very darkest spirits to create this world.

I think there are still people saying that. I had a patch with that slogan on my backpack around... 1998. So maybe the newer generation has found other words to show their drug free pride.

010

xroldx @xroldx.bsky.social · 14/12/2025

Really enjoyed this fun, modern take on a body snatcher theme with drugs and spores as the big evil and I love books that features a straight edge main character. Coming from that scene myself it's an honor that @claymcleod.bsky.social incorporated a bit of the subculture in such a fun book.

Take all the horror that may happen behind the closed doors of a house add a group of adults with serious trauma and you have the ingredients of one of the best books of 2025. @chuckwendig.bsky.social did it again.

@sgj.bsky.social writing a haunted house novel is like Escher meets Poe. This house isn't haunted, it's harboring a menacing threat. If you enjoy terrifying time loops and hate nanny cams this is one for you.

Out of all his recent books (Road, Hallows, House) @cgolden.bsky.social really outdid himself with this one. It's action packed from start to finish, features a coven of badass witches and takes place on a stranded ship that has a forest growing. I loved it.
