Treated myself to a haircut and color today for my birthday. The pink faded out to purple (??? lol) and I needed to chop like 5" of my hair off.

I have free will and I am making new hat designs. These will be up in my shop on patch day next week, but you might be able to win one at the FFXIV fan meetup on Saturday of PAX! Use code PAX in my shop for 15% off though patch day, and snag yourself some fandom wear! wheremy-hatis-at.square.site

Three hats. The left one is dark navy and has the Divine Benison shield buff from final fantasy 14 and the text “but did you die”. The middle one is yellow with black text that says “Thal’s Balls Sports Complex Ul’dah” with a basketball. The one on the right says “Brave Little Pogchamp” in Eorzean, in black text on a lavender hat.

I am also stepping out of my comfort zone, and going to host my first meetup! I will be running a ribbon trade meetup at NDK on Fri, September 4th at 4 pm in the lobby next to the fireplace. (By popular demand, sticker and trinket trades are also welcome!) Feel free to hit me up with any questions!

I'm bummed that they kinda cut Toph's intro episode short compared to the original, where she really shows off her skills in the ring at the start and at the end. I also did not expect Wan Shi Tong to eat anyone in the library??? There was also no Secret Tunnel song in the live-action. Big sad :(

Finally finished season 2 of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender last night. Season 2 was a bit better than season 1. Acting improved a lot, some of the story progression felt more cohesive. On top of her acting improving, Azula's lightning bending also made her look a lot scary.

Overall: Would probably give it another go given how much construction was happening (= a bit messy this year), but it's gone up in price and likely difficult with the Olympics coming up. Maybe 2029? 🤷‍♀️ It was definitely a much better experience than my last one in 2019 though. (7/7)

xRenascent @ Anime Los Angeles @xrenascent.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

- Overpriced food - Same time as the FIFA World Cup...in Los Angeles 💀 - Jpop Sound Capsule/Staples Center rules were weird. We were told we couldn't bring non-small bags in, but we saw people straight up bringing luggage in??? (6/7, ayyyy)

- I didn't realize a separate part of the con was across the street from the con center at the Entertainment Area until over halfway thru the con. - Entire group got yelled at for being a fire hazard (reminiscent of our Granblue Fantasy group in 2019 LMFAO) (4/7)

100

xRenascent @ Anime Los Angeles @xrenascent.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

Cons: - Con center construction. Forced some areas of the con to be smaller (Artist Alley and South Hall). Artist Alley was probably the worst. Also, our hotel was smack in front of the con center, but we had to go completely around to go inside (3/7)

xRenascent @ Anime Los Angeles @xrenascent.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

(Also got to hang out with my local/not-so-local homies I haven't seen in ages 💖) - Took it so much more easy this time compared to previous years. I only cosplayed for less than half of each day and I really enjoyed my con experience - Spent too much thru artists/booths (lol) (2/7)

I just realized I never posted my thoughts about Anime Expo this year oops. LOL. Anyway: Pros: - Better management of lines going into, out of the con, and inside the con itself - Great cosplays this year, made a couple of new friends/talked to some moots for the first time! (1/7)

oh god oh fuck

A bluesky notification reading “Tonberry followed you”, from three minutes prior. Their icon is a picture of a Tonberry from final fantasy, a weird little green dude in a brown robe with a featureless face consisting of only two yellow dot eyes. It’s holding a lantern, for being spooky, and a knife (for ending your life). It offers me the option to follow the tonberry back, which is generally not how this works, but can be useful in getting through the ARR bonus dungeon Wanderer’s Palace (Hard).
