Exactly this. And in fact, many models *have* been created this way, and decades of prior machine learning systems *were* created this way, consensually. These things are choices! People are STILL working this way! It’s not just that a better world is possible — it already EXISTS. We can nurture it.

It sucks, but someone could want your body, your money, or just be a total sociopath who likes drugging people. The target can be anyone. And it's usually in places with drugs & alcohol because victims often stay quiet, doubting themselves & their judgement, and no one is going to believe them.

I don't remember after this, but I made it home with my partner. I was super sick and assumed I drank too much -- it took a while to realize I got poisoned. I don't know what this guy was planning, if he took others, or if he was faking a disarming gay guy persona. I don't like to think about it.

He suggested taking me & a few others who'd also gotten the shooters to another club across town. I realized the others had also just met him -- one asked me if he was my friend. I told pink polo guy "no thanks" as one of my friends emerged from the crowd & I drifted back to my friend group.

A few years later, I was chatting at a loud, crowded gay club with a seemingly fun gay man in a pink polo who bought me a shooter right at the bar. I thought it was safe but I wasn't super careful. A gross bubblegum flavored drink I didn't finish. I realized later he drugged me and several others.

We ended up getting them medical attention and they bounced back. They'd puked all over my friend's car and we all helped clean it later. They may have filed some kind of police report, but if they did, nothing happened. If you were at a club, the doctors tend to think you did this to yourself 🫠

The aftermath of the girls getting drugged was nuts. The guy who poisoned them was gone, the club asked us not to call the police or go to the hospital (for the club's reputation 🙄), and at the same time they told us it happened all the time. Meanwhile the girls were puking violently.

Turns out GHB is pretty cheap and these sociopaths will drug multiple targets. Not everyone gets abducted or (further) assaulted. Some of these monsters might just like the idea that they can secretly drug you and that's their whole deal. Who knows.

Guy disappeared immediately when we showed up looking like chaperones (we were like, 3 years older hahaha) -- and the girls seemed super drunk & messy. We found out they were drugged that night, plus several others, both women & men.

As a formerly constant club goer, I've seen people get drugged & been drugged, and it sucks. The first time was when my friends and I brought two younger girls out (one was my friend's little sister). They left our sight for what felt like 2 seconds?? and we found them taking shots from some guy.

You guys I finally have both of my 3d printers working again after leaving one incomprehensibly jammed for months, partially disassembling it, then moving it to make room for a hermit crab terrarium, then attempting to move the 3d printers to a new workbench, then failing to assemble the workbench…
