Wonder Boy Mystery Dungeon is totally something that needs to be a thing! 😆

Been playing a lot of Mystery Dungeon lately. I've been enjoying myself but damn if that Food system doesn't feel just a little arbitrary against your survivability some delves.

A two panel comic featuring Book from the arcade game Wonderboy in Monster Land, part of the Monster World series. On the top panel Book, wearing his initial outfit of a headband and cloth diaper, is talking to someone off-panel asking "Look, I'm super happy you chose to put me into the new Mystery Dungeon game, but can we do away with the whole "Food" system?", to which the other person is replying "Don't worry, we got something figured out, just for you!"

The second panel is a faux screen shot of a Mystery Dungeon game. Book is standing in the middle with an annoyed look on his face, another pixelated comic speech bubble shows him shouting "Oh come ON!!". Next to him is an opened inventory window showing various items including a sword and two potions, as well as a couple of Diaper items. The HUD includes stats such as his current Hit Points, his current floor, and the free capacity of his current diaper.

Madoka's had the same thing happen to her as with Homura and Kyoko. At least the snakes look friendly. #PuellaMagiMadokaMagica #PMMM

Madoka Kaname from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, with both of her arms having mysteriously transformed into snakes. Madoka has a shocked/panicked expression from her arms having become snakes, while the snake arms look at her with friendly looks, confused as to why she's freaking out.

Haven't posted much about gamedev for a while because, well, there was just nothing to show... Welp, here's something! At the moment it's little more than a graphics showcase, as I'm having to re-do this basically from scratch to accommodate for the VASTLY Improved new GB Studio version.

The creator of this fangame has also attacked the Wonder Boy community for rightfully calling them out, blocking anyone who calls them out directly and encouraging defenders to harass members of the community.

Don't download this. This Wonder Boy fangame was illegally sold for money and uses AI-generated and plagiarised assets. Even other communities that make fangames, like the Sonic community, know not to profit off of IPs like that.

Tried drawing a whale mermaid, which gave me an incentive to make Asha chubby. Turned out fun. #WonderBoy

The same picture but Asha is not wearing shells on her breasts.

First part of a two-piece pencil drawing of Purapril XIII from Monster World IV / Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World picking up a feather dropped by Asha (who had transformed into a harpy), then transforming into a harpy herself.

Second part of a two-piece pencil drawing of Purapril XIII from Monster World IV / Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World having fully transformed into a harpy, with both her and Asha together happily.

Not only that, but no matter how hard we work, our progress remains stagnant. Is it time to set Wonder Boy aside and create for series that people already blab about 24/7? They have plenty of help as is. All of this is so frustrating. I don't want to give up, it isn't like me to. But sometimes...

I've been pretty disappointed in Wonder Boy's 40th anniversary this year. Many fans chose to do nothing, steal other's work, illegally sell fan games or result to AI-generated slop. It's deeply upsetting and it feels like our efforts have been in vain honestly. What did we fight for exactly?

To me, it seems like most popular artists only focus on other popular artists and think that they're all there is within the scene. They'll completely overlook those smaller than them and won't bother looking for other art of the thing they claim hasn't gotten enough exposure. It's so...fake.

My take on this redrawing challenge; kind of funny to be a return to this quazi chibi style I'd drawn Book in, now to go back to the character that inspired it in the first place

Asha from the Monster World series, holding a floating trophy aloft while standing in the middle of a bright yellow spotlight in the black void. This is a redraw of a pixelated image available in the quoted post.

A bunch of random doodles.

A bunch of doodles on a large canvas. Shown here, from left to right descending:

1. Ptera and Pi-Chan from Dyna Brothers, with Pi-Chan hanging from Ptera's talons as he flies.
2. A Jirachi plush.
3. Susie Haltmann riding on Charlotte from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, who's about to eat Kirby.
4. Fang the Hunter shocked to see a tiny Cinna in his ramen bowl. Cinna belongs to mixtrotabuu.bsky.social.
5. Lumina Flowlight from Sonic Shuffle, dressed up in one of the outfits she wears during the game's mini-events.
6. Sayori from Doki Doki Literature Club, based on her appearance from the DDLC mod for Sonic 1 Forever.
7. Tae Yamada from Zombie Land Saga gnawing on Dr. Eggman's head, thinking he actually is an egg.
8. Pyra and Nia from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as snails. Nia is pretty irritated about becoming a snail.
9. The harpy from Monster World IV / Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World with her arms folded, looking at the viewer with her wings spread out.

One year later and I still love how this TF came out. That said, I wanted to make a few touchups and corrections since. #TF #Transformation #WonderBoy

A sequence of Asha from Monster World IV / Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World transforming into the harpy mid-boss from holding a feather. With each step, she grows wings and talons, her hair changes style and colour from verdant green to fiery red, and euphorically rips her clothes apart.

This has been cleaned up since its original upload in February 2025, with unshaded areas being corrected and the hair colour transition adjusted.

Experimenting with a different status bar style. All the rooms in the game already had a 32 pixel buffer for the old one to sit over, so I figured it'd be nice having this new one let you see what's behind it now. #BUDD #gamedev
