I gotta say my enjoyment of cooking with potatoes has gone up tenfold after I realized they are objectively worse in every way when you peel them and you can just leave the skin on

Wild how I finally got myself sorted with a psych here in the US to take over my existing diagnoses/meds, and after a single 1 hour introduction appointment she hit me with "Okay, well, it's pretty obvious that you have ADHD and autism!" 💀 Yeah I know but did you really have to say it like that

Dude not knowing how to draw as a VFX artist STINKS!! I got all this knowledge on rendering, color composition, shading, blending etc etc but then I can't even draw the silhouette of an apple, let alone an anatomically correct human I'm

remains of an exploded human, leaving only their shoes and a pile of soot

Has anyone ever looked at a sharpness filter and said "man this doesn't look like complete ass actually"? like wtf is their intended use case

Seen people who used escapism from politics as a reason to move from X to bsky, only to then be actively engaged with politics on here, just on the opposite side of the political spectrum 🙃Hot take but I don't wanna see that stuff either. I want to look at gamedev and animals

Not gonna lie, staying up till 3am, after having watched the entirety of the Mandela Catalogue, in an unlit apartment that recently had a bunch of furniture moved around, was not the play. Thought I was done for until I realized it was just our fat Miku plush sitting on top of a storage cabinet

using Houdini for VFX is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand you get a non-destructive workflow that allows for rapid iteration and adding variations... But then on the other hand there's the rabbit hole of "I haven't baked anything into the vertex alpha channel yet..."

What a good time to arrive in the US of A as an immigrant! 🦅🦅 Time to quote some random bible verse in my bio to build up a rapport as "one of the good ones".

If you're Dutch/German and ever see someone talking about how good Raising Cane's sauce is, it's 1:1 just mayo + curry ketchup + salt + msg lol

Oh right I forgot bsky has features that are actually useful, like lists 🙃 I'm way too tired to go through hundreds of new followers rn so I guess I've got something to do tomorrow dkfgjhdkf

I'm sorry why did I open bluesky to 300 new followers in my notifications? I'm gonna need a hot second to go through all of these LOL

Also holy shit they added video support on here!! Now I can't use that as an excuse anymore for not posting 😭

160

✨XaraVFX✨ @xara.gg · 18/10/2024

I'd do one of those "Hi I'm Xara" posts but I still don't have any work to add to it 🙃 but I'm emigrating to the US next week (!!!) after like 2-3 years of it having sucked the energy out of me so I hope I can get into some proper VFX/procgen/techart stuff once I settle!

✨XaraVFX✨ @xara.gg · 23/05/2024

I need to remember to use this platform more often... It's still so easy to default to twitter for things 🙃 (also, what's the meta on sharing videos? Do people now just post things like youtube videos so they embed, or?)

✨XaraVFX✨ @xara.gg · 16/11/2023

monthly "can we post videos yet?" post (spoilers I have nothing to show regardless)

Once again feeling the urge to obsess over a discipline I have no experience in - This month's flavor is character modelling I think

Anyone else just pronounce bsky as "bisky"

020

✨XaraVFX✨ @xara.gg · 05/08/2023

Once bsky allows video posts I'm *totally* gonna make so many cool VFX posts. I have soooooo much stuff to share that isn't under NDA Narrator: They had nothing to show

Starting to find some networks to find my fellow gamedevs through... Now to hope that mass following people doesn't shadowban your account like on the dying bird app 🫠

@gamedevlist.bsky.social heya, could I be added to your list? 👀

So, first post on here! Hiya, I'm Xara, a Senior Technical VFX Artist at Gears for Breakfast. I work in Unreal Engine, and my area of expertise includes Niagara, Houdini, Substance Designer, and several other tools. Normally this is where I'd show my work, but all my recent work is under NDA lol
