The Quake Mapping discord is the way to do it right. It is a very inclusive community that is also very firm on what and who it doesn't want. These two aspects are not mutually exclusive, and it has only grown with time. It is my hope Thief's eventually reaches that point, the game deserves it.

I want to expand on this in a much harsher way and say that the Thief community is insular and needlessly self destructive to the point where it's no real surprise that it's a graveyard in comparison to other similar communities.

I had this idea from reading the elizabeth holmes mouse post and then I couldn't do anything else until i painted the idea to completion
