I do not care what Leo says into a mic until it's "all the total trans healthcare bans in the Catholic Church's massive hospital networks are immediately repealed."

Ignore LLM coding. You won't learn anything that way. The models can generate good code, but it takes experience to guide them.

I still believe it's worth learning to code, but my argument for that was never because you might land a six figure job. It's because a modern computer is an incredible machine, and by learning to program, you can unlock its full potential. Do it for personal enrichment.

But you can't deny it works. At what, you ask? At destroying working class power. Glad we had this discussion.

but really, this post is just me reaffirming that I am not interested in whether they can do math because the primary function of LLMs is to help centralize, justify, and validate power, and they are doing that successfully already

That's the thing about Rand. She had a few decent things to say, but you can almost certainly find equivalents from other people. In fact, she may have called those very same people big idiots while misrepresenting what they said, and praising what they actually said as if it were her own idea.

To an extent, they can't. The export ban on GPUs does limit them. No, smuggling doesn't help. Their universities still expect hardware to come with a warranty. Smuggled GPUs are going to gamers, not AI researchers. They are all in on solar and batteries, which is the more sensible path, anyway.

The anti-sexualism of authoritarian societies and the people who run them does not spring from conviction (they themselves have sex), but from the vague perception that freedom here might lead to a liking for freedom elsewhere. Alex Comfort

I might be a little less distrustful of AI if the dudes promoting it, supporting it, insisting on it, and advocating for it weren’t the worst fucking people on the planet.

We've had the ability to watch, say, Counterstrike marathons, Street Fighter tournaments, or chess matches between computers since the 90s. Spectacles which, by their very definition, would be at a "higher standard" than human play. And nobody wants it. It's entirely meaningless. It has no appeal.

Capitalism, meanwhile, only knows the worth of anything in terms of dollar value. Music that doesn't make money is "worthless".

Yet another example of how deeply anti-human techbros are, and capitalism in general. Making music is deeply personal. It's as close to universally human as it gets. It does not matter if a next note prediction machine can also make music. Denying this is denying humanity.

Denying post‑op trans adults HRT is lethal because it causes dangerous hormone crashes, severe dysphoria, and sharp spikes in suicide risk Our bodies depend on HRT for our physical and mental health, ripping away that care will kill many of us But we knew this was coming And we warned about this

She tried not to offend anyone while also trying to do the right thing, and I think she wasn't as effective as she could have been because of it. A lot of that is probably growing up a woman in a very male dominated society. Trying to carve out a little niche to be herself without making "trouble".

I've been thinking along these lines with Dolly Parton. I do think she did a lot of good work, but she also walked this very fine line where people wouldn't get offended at her, specifically. How she handled "Dixie Stampede" is a good case point.

If kids first exposure to Star Wars was to read the scripts with commentary, they would hate that, too.

Frezik Ⓐ 🏴🚩🐈‍⬛ @wumpus-cave.net · 29/09/2026
Just to elaborate on the idea, there's something very wrong with how we teach kids literature. Your first introduction to Shakespeare is probably a play, and you probably read the script. Those plays weren't meant to be enjoyed that way. They're plays; you perform them.

Which is funny, because RNG in gamedev is a totally different topic. CS tends to focus on cryptographic RNG. Games may or may not use things like MT as a building block, but the important parts are built around it. Traditional CS courses don't cover it (nor should they).

The prequels were rehabilitated when the people who watched it as kids grew up and said it was good, actually. The sequels are for testing this theory to its extreme. Just wait another decade or so and we'll see where the discourse goes.

Huang handwaves this completely. It isn't clear what those "new skills" will be, if they even exist, how they will be attainable by most people, or how they will affect people with certain mental and physical divergences.

Frezik Ⓐ 🏴🚩🐈‍⬛ @wumpus-cave.net · 24/09/2026
With LLMs having people offload reading and math skills, Huang says those skills will be replaced by new ones. However, there's no specifics. When we taught larger building blocks, there was a clear way to do that. We knew where we were going.

Frezik Ⓐ 🏴🚩🐈‍⬛ @wumpus-cave.net · 24/09/2026
However, there were still specific skills being taught. There was a goal. It was found that this makes for a better approach.

Right around 1995, there was a shift in teaching both CS and electrical engineering from working with fundamental pieces and instead focusing on larger scale system building blocks. That's your "systems thinker" coming into play.

Frezik Ⓐ 🏴🚩🐈‍⬛ @wumpus-cave.net · 24/09/2026
There's a bit in here where Huang mentions that he's a better "transistor thinker", and the engineers who have came out since are better "systems thinkers". There may be a reason for this, and I don't think it supports Huang's point as much as he thinks.

If you're not looking at these people through a lens of religion and high control groups (in other words, cults), then you're going to miss their motivations. It is not solely about money and power. All the big tech CEOs come to the same conclusions at the same time with very little deviation.

Yeah, it's weird how that one gets support. When has that ever worked out in any other country? Why would America be different? I don't think it will happen because the old military leadership just won't do it, and the new ones are hand picked sycophants. But can we think more than one step ahead?
