TONIGHT we have MacArthur fellow, Guggenheim fellow, Harvard professor, etc etc SKY HOPINKA in person to introduce and do a post-show Q&A for his new film, POWWOW PEOPLE, here receiving its St. Louis premiere! Showtime 7:30pm, pay what you wish admission, which is exactly what it sounds like.

TONIGHT our Andrzej Wajda retrospective continues with his Oscar-nominated 1974 effort, THE PROMISED LAND, showing at 7:00pm! The Promised Land, like most of the Wajda films we're showing this weekend, are difficult/impossible to see legally and in good quality in America. 4K DCP over here, though!

TONIGHT & TOMORROW (two shows only!) we're running a new 35mm print of Tsai Ming-liang's 1998 film THE HOLE, only now getting its first U.S. theatrical release! J. Hoberman suggests the film is "a blissful dose of morphine administered as the world goes down the drain." Showtime 7:30pm, no trailers.

TONIGHT is our one-night-only back to school show of HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS, which we first ran in March 2024 and has since emerged as one of the biggest audience favorites of the past decade! If you haven't seen this on a big screen with a crowd, you haven't seen it at all. 7:30pm, $10/$9.

TONIGHT we're playing the new Canadian documentary AGATHA'S ALMANAC, about the 90-year-old Agatha Bock, who lives alone on her ancestral farm without running water or a phone, farming the traditional way. Agatha's a charmer, as captured in 16mm from the film's all-female crew. Showtime 7:30pm.

By Hook or By Crook was a hit at Sundance and SXSW upon release but never got the distribution it deserves. We're happy to be able to play it!

TONIGHT and Thursday (but not Wednesday) we're showing Gerald Potterton's shaggy 1971 counterculture animation/live-action hybrid TIKI TIKI at 7:30pm! Potterton also worked on Yellow Submarine and later directed Heavy Metal; Tiki Tiki has long been all but impossible to see.
