Ryusuke Hamaguchi: Early Works Oct 17–Nov 22 | Free Hamaguchi’s “Drive My Car” won the Oscar for Best International Feature in 2022 and was the first Japanese film nominated for Best Picture. But well before this, he was busy making films that have rarely screened outside of Japan: ucla.in/3VDR3Sp

90 years ago at the infamous 1936 Berlin Olympics, track and field athlete Jesse Owens became the star of the games, undermining Hitler’s intention to use the event as propaganda for the so-called “master race.” Owens was the first American to win 4 gold medals and broke Olympic and world records.
