Really would love @dieworkwear.bsky.social to comment on whatever is happening with JAW here.
picture of Aaron Sorkin, Mikey Madison, and Jeremy Allen White at the premiere of The Social Reckoning. they are on a powder-blue carpet with the words THE SOCIAL RECKONING on it. There is a poster in the background and MM is wearing a really arresting lemon-colored gown. And Allen has awkwardly buttoned the middle button of his blazer which makes him look like the kooky scientist in a 1950s comedy and he has a dippy expression on his face.

Was NBC playing Black Sabbath underneath the baseball coverage a few minutes ago? Before the game started. What was that, anyone know?

At the start of the 9th, KC's reliever Pearson walked the batter on 4 pitches. Cleveland's TV crew, Underwood and Manning, made light of this. Manning said 'well if you're giving out walks, how many do you want?' And Underwood said, '1--2--4?' Pearson did end up issuing 4 walks and a run.

How often does a 4— groundout happen? (Second baseman unassisted, no fielder's choice option.)

Between the last pitch of the top of the 1st, which ended with the Guardians losing 2-0, and the Guardians taking the lead 3-2, approximately six minutes passed.

1979 also gave us Messidor, North Dallas Forty, Origins of a Meal, Time After Time, The Brood, Mad Max (the best of the first three IMO), Camera Buff, and All That Jazz.

Hard for me to work up much enthusiasm for an espionage TV show in which the story's two most esteemed spies, undercover at a crowded funeral, loudly rehash an internal dispute while accusing each other of incorrectly being fond of "keeping things in the dark." GMAFB

I think I'd prefer things if one of the 4 living ex-presidents had the guts to say "No, 9/11 is a bummer. I'm not coming." I'm trying to imagine the former presidents of France. If they had to do this, I feel like a couple of them might just be like "no thanks." Seems to show more character.

I used to enjoy watching the HBO show "Inside the NFL" ... I went on Wikipedia to find out if it still exists. Apparently it's now on "X/Twitter" — WTF does that mean?

Showtime (2008-21)
Paramount+ (2021-23)
The CW (2023-25)

Just contemplating how odd it would be for anybody who had been pulled from the rubble on 9/11 to have apparently zero interest in attending the ceremony of the 25th anniversary. And also hadn't brought it up once in 25 years.

Gotta say, I don't give a fuck about 9/11 anymore. It's just synonymous with wars in the Middle East and national decline leading to the presidency of Donald Trump.

The Guardians' recent series vs. Detroit was a microcosm of the season as a whole. Detroit has a strikingly better runs scored/allowed ratio for the season: They are +50 on the season, the Guardians are -14. But the Guardians have 8 more wins. In this series: CLE RS/RA: 14-17 CLE record: 3-1

In the 2000s I used to go watch tapings of The Daily Show every now and then. I probably did it five times. Obviously the guest was always pure luck of the draw. One time around 2005 the guest was Dolly Parton. She didn't do any singing. It was just the regular desk interview.

A maddening thing about these SCOTUS decisions is the background tone of "a lot of people in the know who have engaged with these topics recognize that Trump is doing the right thing on a lot of this stuff" but that's just not fucking true. It's not true on the law and it's not true on the merits.

Does Trump still shit-talk Obama and Jimmy Carter? I don't know if he ever did it that much, in the case of Carter, but I wouldn't be surprised if even he might have begun to comprehend that presidentin' ain't that easy, particularly if you're an ignorant numbskull.

If I'm understanding this correctly, Natalie Harp has excessive influence on the messages emanating from Trump these days. Couldn't SHE be the origin of the directive to flood the zone on "Natalie Harp has done nothing wrong" messaging that the Republican operators have been engaged in all week?
