With no realistic upper limit on productivity. 4x productivity compared to what you were doing before? Why can't YOU get to 8-10x productivity at the same quality? (As if the typing is the slow part, not gathering requirements, designing the solution, influencing colleagues to believe in it, etc)

I've been trying to write a response to Gomi's post here... But there's just so much that I could say. I have been involved in cons long enough (10+ years!) that I feel like the burnout cycle is speeding up a bit, I'm seeing people tired after a third of the time I've spent doing it.

(To be fair to them, their superiors are being trained to root out Stubborn, Backwards Execs who do not heavily push AI and therefore supposedly do not wisely deploy their teams and resources. So we're all going to get inapplicable AI advocacy from execs who don't understand what it isn't good at.)

None of that is to say that the solution is to use AI, especially where it doesn't belong. We just all have to do the obligate corporate jujitsu of "Why, I would LOVE to use AI for this, thank you! But if we did it would be more expensive, slower to land, and harder to keep running, because [...]".

Leaders are being trained two things: 1) They can say "can you do it with AI", and suddenly deadlines zoom forward, resources free up, and they get rewarded, AI or not. 2) There are Stubborn, Backwards Engineers out there that resent AI and resent being asked. They're the ones you can lay off next.
