Curiously, mine lists Oregon as the closest state, but it looks like the entire West Coast is about the same and San Francisco is my most accurate city. (I've lived within an hour's drive of SF my whole life.)

My dialect map matches all of California, Oregon, and Washington, but the top reads: "Your dialect map. Redder areas talk more like you; bluer areas least. You talk most like someone from Oregon - about 56% of your answers match a typical Oregon resident."

That said, the cities most like me are San Francisco (55%), Portland OR (55%), and Los Angeles (55%). Least like me are New Orleans (44%), Atlanta (45%), and Houston (45%).

I have a lot of the US left to see.

There are nine plants in that little pot - the soil is probably mostly tubers at this point - and it's in a business park with tinted windows that only gets direct morning light. I planted some of its siblings into a strawberry planter (old photo below) and they've been putting out pups like crazy.

That spider plants's siblings, at home with plenty of room, from a photo a few months ago. There's a ponytail palm in the top of the planter. The spider plants have huge broad leaves and many offspring still attached.

Spider plant desk friend, July 2023 to August 2026. About to take it home for a much-needed repotting. Very lucky to get to have a little natural light and greenery at my work desk - it's done wonders for my mental health.

I mean, all you really need is a needle and some darning yarn or embroidery floss, but I did find the Speedweve loom fun for the bigger patch. It also came with a variety of thread to start with, which was a nice bonus.

I've been on a mending kick lately - I got a darning kit and have been patching holes in favorite old hoodies, jeans, and socks. It's been a really great way to get some non-screen time in, save some stuff from the landfill for another year or two, and build out a cost-efficient skill.

Two mends on a pair of jeans. The one on the left is a colorful one done on a darning loom, and the one on the right is freehand using sewing thread for practice. They're not the nearest job, but skills don't start perfect and I'm still proud :)

Happy Bike To Work Day in Silicon Valley! Biked the 14 miles to work in a little under an hour and a half. It was a beautiful morning ride and a ton of fun. I usually bike to and from the work bus (3 days a week) - I should do the whole ride more often! #BikeToWorkDay

Our favorite bike festival #VivaCalleSJ came back this year! They close the streets for a few hours on a Sunday so it becomes miles and miles of public free festival. It's one of my favorite things about the city. Videos to follow!

What an incredible tour! We got to see artifacts from shows (including the Benoit Blanc puppet from the Sesame Street crossover), many well-known characters, and lots of history. Puppets strewn everywhere. This is just the first room—most of the tour was no photos. You have to come see it yourself!

Watched "Giant" on Broadway. John Lithgow as Roald Dahl, incisively interrogating his purported antisemitism later in life. Powerful writing and acting, wince-inducing at times, presenting multiple viewpoints provocatively as he did, and with a satisfyingly unsatisfying conclusion.

Personal best! Jogged continuously on the 5K, 33:21 total on the chip so 11 minute miles. Early in my journey but I'm happy to be improving still. And hey, it's the Shamrock Run, so we all got a Guinness at the end!
