@gojiimusic.bsky.social Heya Gojii, in your Valentine's Day mix there's a track by your very good friend Cobalt Rabbit that I can't find anywhere: ID. Any plans to put it up in future?

One of the furry community's originals, Roz Gibson, is in really big trouble. She is in kidney failure, and needs a donor, so please reskeet. www.furaffinity.net/journal/1138...

I’ve thought long and hard about making this post, but really, at this point, I don’t have much to lose. Desperate times, and all that.

TLDR version: I need a kidney transplant, and I’m looking for a donor. Read below for all the gory details.

Since late 2019, right before Covid hit, I’ve been battling a serious illness. I’ve been kind of cagey about what exactly is wrong, for a number of reasons, but here’s the truth—I’m in full kidney failure.

There is no history of this in my family, so when the symptoms began appearing I didn’t recognize them until it was too late. By the time I went to a doctor my kidney function had dropped into the single digits. Most kidney failure is caused by diabetes or high blood pressure—I got some weird kidney disease I can’t even pronounce and never heard of: Oxalate Nephropathy.

By adopting some dietary changes and careful monitoring, I was able to limp along with reduced kidney function for several years. But you don’t appreciate how much your kidneys do to keep you healthy until they stop working. There’s constant fatigue and nausea, and a general feeling of unwellness that never goes away.

But eventually I lost even what minimal function I had left, which left the end of the line for kidney disease: dialysis. As of this point I’ve been on dialysis for about 3 years. Let me tell you—dialysis is its own special kind of hell that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy.

But even that is just a stop-gap measure, and my condition is continuing to get worse. Despite this, I’m trying my best to live as normal a life as possible. I’m extremely lucky I have a job that’s willing to allow me 9 hours a week for dialysis, so I’m still working. On weekends I work on my art and comics, and one or two days a month I do my volunteer work at the bird-banding site. I can even travel to see my family—if I arrange for dialysis at a local clinic ahead of time.

All of that is done while trying to deal with the symptoms of kidney failure. I’ve known 4 people who were on dialysis—none of them worked or really did much of anything, and at this point they’re all dead, which doesn’t really give me a lot of hope for my future.

Which brings us to the point of all this—I desperately need a kidney transplant. That is the only thing that will give me a chance at a relatively normal life. I’ve been approved and on the transplant list for a few years, but the waiting period in California is very long. By the time I get to the top of it, I may be too sick to get one. Right now I’m still in relatively good condition, comparatively. A transplant from a living donor lasts much longer and is better in every way than one you get from a deceased donor.

Unfortunately, everyone in my immediate family is too old or has other health problems that preclude donation. So this post is a desperate attempt to find anyone willing to donate. I realize donating a kidney is a lot different than giving ten bucks to a GoFundMe, but as I said at the beginning, at this point I don’t have much to lose by asking.

Here is the living donor site: https://www.uclahealth.org/medical-.....t/living-donor

You can inquire and even arrange to donate completely anonymously if that’s what you want. Hopefully there’s a Jack Salem fan out there who wants to see the stories (and the artist) continue for years to come.

That is all.

"We both need this, don't we? If I'm going to die out here, I may as well live in the meantime. Just one night. Just once." A sorta spicy little scene for my two Inheritor boys. Kley is trying it on, and Flynn is weak enough to give in, but I don't think he'll be happy in the aftermath...

A coloured picture of two Inheritors from Project Silverfish (reptilian humanoids with plumage in place of hair) sharing an intimate moment in a tent. The viewer is above them as Kley (smaller, light scaled boy with red plumage, back covered in crossing scars from whip injuries) lays on top of Flynn (larger, grizzled, blue-scaled veteran). Kley is hugging him around one shoulder and kissing at his neck. Flynn seems conflicted, but clearly enjoying the attention after such a long time. Both are naked, except that Flynn still has his vest on. Around them are the trappings of The Zone; some buckshot shells, boots, an MRE, a backpack with the Yellow Stag patch, a medkit and an empty bottle. They are laying on top of an open sleeping bag, using a folded jacket as a pillow. The scene is lit entirely by an early morning or late evening sunlight, tinting the whole scene a reddish-orange.

I still think about good ol' Sheriff Hayseed now and then. If I ever revisit it, I'd do so many things different, it would be completely unrecognizable. I drew the boys as they exist in my head now. I think Todd would be Canadian.

Todd and Shawn from the old short "Sheriff Hayseed" with an entirely new, more anthro look. Sketchy lines, cross hatching, and painterly textures.
