originally was a lizard bloke but it looked off so I quickly smoothed out the skin and bam, hairless ape

Divinity OS2 lizard design still haunts my mind

felt like making a lorge intimidating bruiser/breacher that'd be pointman for a merc outfit

in the second iteration I went with a low angle and got inspo'd to make a lil scene

so yeah, smug asshat snapping pics for space instagram instead of helping with the raid

been designing an #oc specie for the past week or so yapped about my initial plans in the first picture's alt text

the start of fishlizard

various iterations of head designs and a couple for the body

the runes on the right are barely decipherable and bluesky's gonna mangle them even further but in a nutshell:

I'd like that specie to hail from a planet that's pretty much covered in water, with sparse islands here and there. They evolved and walk the land, but still retain a lot of vestigial traits from their aquatic life, ergo: fish fins on lean reptilian body :) and four arms, why not

A gimmick I also thought of was to make them very bureaucratic inherently, and pull that back in the design every now and then. For instance, their name could be something reptilian in nature to an outsider, but it's just their birthplace + the date or something of the sort lol

the main piece I'll do with those once I got the anatomy down will likely be a space leasure flight attendant, wearing an appropriately fancy sci-fi-ish suit, but with the regulation-mandated personal protective equipment (for decompression incidents and whatnot) integrated

the runes are basically saying I want to put three palms on her hand, a longer than usual index and a membrane between the two middle palms (for improved swimming yo)

Two workers unload an insect-like flatbed vehicle. One is an enormous reptilian thrall, the other a thrall in his humanoid form.

LORE:

Biomechanical vehicles have long since replaced the horse and cart for all but the poorest citizens of the Savic Empire. The insect-like machines are created in liveworks; factories with both incubator vats and mechanical tools.

Although the aristocrat class maintains they are the only true mages, the workers in these factories are usually magic users. Liveworkers coax machines from their aurum laced wombs, smoothing malformed limbs and blooming their eyes and feelers. Once the living platform is complete, mechanics then bolt on controls, fuel tanks and the manufacturers emblems.

This hauler is being unloaded by thrall workers at a staging base near the South Front. Labor contracts like this were once reserved for humans, but corporate contractors now prefer to own their workforce.
