I'm interpreting this as ones that stayed with me for a long time, not my current favourites, it could still be a totally different set, and probably should have more punk, maybe some jazz, or hip-hop.

I mean sure, but I'm pretty ok with social democrats talking about goals: a dignified life for all, no one need worry about rent, no one goes hungry... Worker control of the means of production, soviets, communes, ending wage labour, destroying the law of value, these are means.

I mean it's not full communism, but to each according to their need is a pretty good principle, and any government that seriously tried to guarantee it for everyone would pretty quickly need to seize the economy and totally transform it.

ok, so there are situations where it might be inappropriate for non weird or misogynistic reasons, I'm persuaded. But given the British public at least some of that 67% are saying it's unacceptable for weird or misogynistic reasons.

I'm also just slightly confused or suspicious why the question is iced coffee, rather than tea, say, or just any drink. Would people's responses be different? What does the choice of drink imply? Maybe I'm reading too much into it though!
110
Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Sure. if someone spills it that's not a great impression and if they're visibly not paying attention that's bad, but I wouldn't mind the coffee in itself.

Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I guess I've never had a workplace (mostly uni or financial services) where having a tea or coffee during a meeting would be remarkable, it happens very often, and I wouldn't think twice about anyone I've interviewed doing the same.

It's UK yougov daily questions.
120
Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Genuinely, why? What are you potentially hiring then to do that drinking a coffee in a meeting is bad form?
110
Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Is it relevant that it's an iced coffee? Is that the new latte drinking? Why are British people so weird about the significance of drinking coffee?

Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
I presume it's old people and Tories, but there's no breakdown yet, and sometimes it surprises me.

Who are these two thirds of people that think bringing a coffee into a job interview is unacceptable?
Yougov daily question: British people being weird and 67% saying it's unacceptable to bring a store bought iced coffee into a job interview. Is it relevant that it's an iced coffee?

So you replace a good, balanced set of combat and item mechanics with one that doesn't make sense. You play Minecraft to be able to interact with the world, but the world here is still fixed. It doesn't really understand either game.

Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Completely unoriginal, and also sounds awful gameplay, because it doesn't really integrate the mechanics at all, it just lets you use Minecraft items in Elden Ring.

That wasn't terrible in the second half, Scotland looked in charge of the game, but two good chances squandered and they never really looked like scoring for all the pressure.

I don't think the left can really persuade conservative elites of very much directly, but we can address the general public, and maybe liberal and centre left elites.
000
Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Maybe if liberals and social democrats stood up to the far right and actually countered their arguments, rather than pandering to them, that might shift opinion and encourage conservatives to do the same.

The problem is that "while you weren't looking the tech industry was comprehensively taken over by a cult based around a piece of Harry Potter fanfic" is self-evidently an absolutely ridiculous claim that can't possibly have happened, which is a real problem given that it 100% did happen.

Conference believes:

i. that trans, non-binary and gender diverse people are entitled to be treated with equal dignity at work and in wider society

ii. the new guidance is discriminatory and unworkable and effectively excludes trans people from swathes of public life including working life

iii. the law must be changed

Walked from Kenmore to the Falls of Acharn and back along the loch. We saw a hare and lots of butterflies and dragonflies.

The crannog centre is great by the way. If you're ever around Loch Tay you should go. Nice cafe, little village of round houses where you can watch people blacksmithing, and weaving and cooking.

I think it's our third or fourth time visiting the Scottish crannog centre, but the first time we've actually got to go in one. No one's quite sure why people in Scotland and Ireland spent 6 to 10 years building these things in the iron age, but they're fucking cool.

Double-digit growth in the next 10-15 years would require machines to do most of the economy’s work by 2035, people to keep spending on whatever gets automated, buyers and investors who absorb the new output, AI that never destroys value or slows its own deployment, and an R&D loop for which there is no evidence thus far. Each of these assumptions may fail in the real world.

Without Pity @withoutpity.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

If fairy tales are literally a holy task, maybe entrusting that to a capitalist corporation is bad? Like that's basically selling your soul.
