Many on here and elsewhere can get very loud when particular cases are in the news. But that will die down and what will remain are the many victims and survivors who need support, resources and to be believed. I've said more than I intended because I no longer discuss this stuff online.

This is the 1st version of Judith Slaying Holofernes painted by Artemisia Gentileschi in 1617 after she was raped by her art teacher around the age of 17. The 2nd version of this came as a commission from Cosimo de'Medici 10yrs later after she was the 1st woman admitted to the Academie delle Arti.

Did you know Artemisia Gentileschi painted Judith Slaying Holofernes twice? The 1st time was at 17 after her own rape. The 2nd was 10yrs later at the top of her game, commissioned by a Medici. She revisited the topic often over her 40yr career. I think of that a lot. Anyway, here's version 2.
The painting "Judith Slaying Holofernes" by Artemisia Gentileschi painted in 1627. This is the second time she painted this scene, with a technical mastery that made her one of the finest artists of the Renaissance. It was commissioned by Cosimo d'Medici in Naples, where Gentileschi moved after winning the court case against her rapist (her teacher,) but only after she was physically tortured in public for it. She was 27 when she completed this larger version that's hanging at the Uffizi museum today.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

It’s bisexuality visibility day! When I love to share the Villa Farnesina bisexual visibility fresco, commissioned in the early 1500s by the Italian Renaissance artist Sodoma, depicting Alexander the Great between his wife Cassandra and boyfriend Hephaestion. Bisexuality has always been a thing!
Fresco of a sumptuous bedroom. In the middle Alexander draped in blue and gold robes is offering a crown to Cassandra who is lounging naked in a canopy bed. To the right Hephaestion also naked watches while standing in a sexy pose.

A local cybersec conference is this Saturday. I'm not in the mood for naming them but for locals IYKYK. 26 speakers, breaks out into 1 white woman who has a pre-existing relationship w/the organizers, 6 Indian men, ✨18 white men,✨ and 1 unknown (no pic). So much for "we embrace diversity."🙃

The systems were given instructions, they didn't "know" these things. And because they didn't "know" that—because they were following instructions—they were incapable of "caring" one way or another. Lacking agency and thought changes the entire perspective here

In the Renaissance people theorized, since the Aeneid is great, if you wrote poems made only of words & phrases from the Aeneid rearranged they should be great too, since a great source regurgitated should yield greatness. They produced NOTHING we still read. Thinking about that a lot lately.
