I learned that a close, dear friend of mine died by suicide. I had been friends with them for over 20 years. We had grown distant, which was my fault. I am devastated. I am not coping well.

I wish people better understood the daily battle I have with myself. But this last year, I have made great strides for emotional regulation and making healthier mental health choices. But I have also reverted to some unhealthy defense mechanisms to keep me emotionally safe.

I am approaching the one year anniversary of when my heart and soul were completely shattered. I have worked so hard to put myself back together in a way so that I will never be at risk of being shattered like that again. Or of ever being accused of being an emotionally abusive partner. Healing
