Willimantic, Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Assistant Professors in Latin American History (tenure-track) position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City.  Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits. POSITION DESCRIPTION The History Department of Eastern Connecticut State University, Connecticut’s public liberal arts university, enthusiastically invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Latin American History. The research field of specialization is open. In addition to teaching introductory world history survey courses, the selected candidate will also teach a range of upper division Latin American history courses that will serve the Latin American Studies Program. They will also offer courses for Eastern’s liberal arts core curriculum, which includes interdisciplinary seminars. Preference will be given to candidates who will be able to contribute to the department’s digital history program and assist in the university’s community engagement programs. What if a project doesn't have TEI, but only plain text? This was the case for the Lu Xun Corpus, with Chinese literature. For that, we created a basic TEI version with metadata and published it in the repository. Lading-page of the project: textgridrep.org/project/TGPR...

When I teach print history, I have a repository of little facts I share to help both demystify very old objects and ask students to resituate the codex as technology. The Department of Comparative Literature and Thought at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral teaching fellowship in digital humanities. The fellowship period will run from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028, with the possibility of a one-year extension.

In addition to pursuing their own research agenda, the postdoctoral fellow will teach the equivalent of four courses per year and is expected to participate fully in the thriving DH community on campus. Teaching responsibilities will include at least one regular course each Fall and Spring semester. Additional teaching responsibilities may include additional semester-long lab courses or a series of several short-term workshops. Fellows are expected to be in residence during the entire fellowship period, apart from research-related travel. Fellows will receive a salary of $64,380 per year, plus Washington University postdoctoral benefits and a $2,500 annual research/travel stipend."

My #DHmakes sleep viz is framed/ready for action, thx to my partner’s woodworking skills! I’m using this in a #DigitalHumanities class where students will create a personalized dataset to play w in a range of tools. They’ll encounter friction/“failure” trying to get their data to work in some tools.
